Daniel Woods est en feu! – Daniel Woods is on fire!

  • 13/03/2018

Mais le grimpeur américain s’essaye sérieusement depuis quelques jours à “First round first minute” 9b à Margalef. A suivre !

Arrived 3 weeks ago in Catalunya with impressive sends under his belt, American Daniel Woods seems to have come back in prime shape these past few days! He sent his first 9b end of February with the short and intense “La Capella” in Siurana. Daniel succeed as well, last Sunday, on the neighbouring “Jungle speed”, upgrading it to 9a after a hold broke (a 8B boulder into a 8a troute for him now).

But Daniel didn’t stop here, and is currently attempting “First round first minute” 9b in Margalef. On Saturday, he broke a biner (!) whilst falling in the second crux of the route and was close to groundfalling (due to a dog bone on the sling which was made the carabiner work poorly during the fall). Yesterday he took his revenge, sending the easier exit “First Ley” 9a+, which is linking more on the left into “Ley innata” (8c+/9a). Like he said: “Now i just need to add a 8A boulder for First Round”. Easier said than done mentioned Chris Sharma, who fell numerous times at this point before getting the first ascent…Not sure if we consider Daniel’s current shape! To be continued!
