Kaddi Lehmann, seconde grimpeuse dans le 8C bloc ! – Kaddi Lehmann, second woman to boulder 8C!

  • 14/06/2018

By mid may, Kaddi Lehmann, strong German climber did “Kryptos” 8C in Balsthal, a bouldering place located in Switzerland! It’s the second female 8C boulder after Ashima Shiraishi and “Horizon” in 2016! This boulder was opened by Franz Widmer in May of 2009 (video below) and repeated first by Fred Nicole this same year. After the problem was forgotten until a repeat by Austrian Kevin Heiniger then the one of Kaddi ! It’s a sit-start with around 10 hard moves in overhang with a slopy wave then crimps and underclings.

“I’m living in the South -East of Germany. I mainly boulder and once in a while, I tie into a rope for sport climbing”. Her hob ? Bouldering routesetter in German gyms, trainer Sport Scientist and Sport Therapist!

Here is her first thoughts about “Kryptos”. After first discovering Kryptos in March 2017, the boulder problem seemed impossible but stuck in her head. “When I first tried it, I couldn’t do much on it— just hold some positions and most of the moves felt impossible. At the end of 2017, I had the idea of seeing this boulder as the ultimate goal with all other climbs like small steps towards that goal. And I thought, if not now then maybe never”

Before this achievement, her personal best was 8B with “Fragile steps” in Rocklands in 2015. The icing on the cake, Kaddi also did few days ago “Pura vida” in Magic Woods (8A+, first female 8B of the world now downgraded).

Congrats! And more to come!
