Premier 8c pour Amandine Loury – First 8c for Amandine Loury

  • 20/11/2017

The climber from Burgundy, France who is now living in the South of France, Amandine Loury, has just sent this Sunday her first 8c on her fetish cliff, St-Léger du Ventoux with “La théorie des cordes” in the Praniania sector. A long-term project that she was close to send this spring. She thus realized the second female ascent after the one of Florence Pinet last year.

“The first time I tried  “La théorie des cordes” was two years ago. The line really appealed to me. But the tries were not fruitful. The route was really problematic for me, especially the lower section which is demanding and powerful on tufas and vertical slopers. You always have to use your core muscle while trying to save as much as you can to hope to be able to send the upper part of the route which ask some power and is a combination of hard moves on crimps and slopers. All of this is without real rest, just partial rest where you have still to force on the holds. I could not go back in the route last year because conditions were not often favorable (too hot or wet holds) but I had not forgotten it. And this year, I took advantage of the good conditions of the moment and I was able to come back these last two weeks and it worked. For me, being able to send “La théorie des cordes” is a small victory because I persevered more than usual and it paid off.”
