Répétition de Zahir 300m, 8b+ par Cédric Lachat – Cédric Lachat repeats Zahir, 300m, 8b+

  • 24/09/2019

New step crossed by Swiss top climber Cédric Lachat in his “Swissway to heaven” project with the repeat of “Zahir” in the Wenden, Swiss Alps. Here are his words after his ascent:

With my teammate Fabien Dugit I did my penultimate shooting for my project “Swissway to heaven” in the Wendenstöcke. Our cameraman and photographer followed us this time and his shots are amazing!
The famous pioneer Claude Rémy joined the crew and shared with us his numerous stories about bolting in Switzerland and in the Wenden.

I did a quick repeat in a day of “Zahir” (8 pitches, 300m, 8b+) bolted by Günther Habersatter between 1996 and 2004. I just gave a check go in the 8b+ crux pitch, putting the gear on the rock and scoping the moves. I freed it at my next go, fighting a little bit on these tiny vertical crimps. All the other parts of the route went onsight. The route had some scary run-outs, and it’s quite difficult to find your way in the wall, so some parts of my ascent were very spicy, close to dangerous! In some parts, I think it’s better not to fall! But the 8b+ crux pitch is very well bolted. The most difficult in this route is to deal with the pain of your finger skin: the holds are very thin and sharp. It was again a good human adventure.”

The current weather is now bad so the next “Swissway to heaven” film making is delayed to next summer. It will take place in Rätikon and I will attempt “WoGü” with Nina Caprez and the legend Beat Kammerlander. The movie will be produced by Guillaume Broust and will be out around October 2020. Stay tuned!
