Souvenirs du pic 8c pour Théo Blass, 10 ans ! – Souvenirs du pic by Théo Blass, 10!

  • 11/06/2020

Theo who turned 10 at the end of November last year and who redpointed “Bertane”, an 8b when he was still aged 9, sent his first 8c “Souvenirs du pic” in Saint Guilhem le Desert yesterday, taking advantage of the good conditions. The route is a beautiful varied and sustained line a bit similar to a route at Pic Saint Loup called Les rois du Petrole (which explains the name): steep and powerful first half and technical and fingery second half. It is an endurance testpiece. Theo needed 5-6 sessions last year to send the upper half and another 7-8 sessions this year to send the whole route. Theo says thanks to Petzl France for the support and trust. It’s the youngest climber to reach this grade. Notice Ashima Shiraishi did “Southern smoke” 8c+ at 11. Both Ondra and Bakhmet-Smolensky did their first 8c at 11 too.
