On vous annonçait hier le flash de « Greenspit », voici que « Flash Gordon » Adam Ondra remet le tablier dès aujourd’hui, cette fois-ci dans les blocs extrêmes. Il nous avait déjà montré l’étendue de son talent depuis de nombreuses années (« Confessions », « Gecko assis », « Jade ») et il s’était remis au goût du jour en début d’année avec « El Elegido » (8B+/C) puis la « Ligne de bête » 8B+ en notre compagnie. Voici qu’Adam débarque à Fionnay en Suisse et réalise flash un bloc qui lui convient parfaitement : le panneau physique de « Foundations Edge ». Le 3e 8C flash de l’histoire après l’allemand Yannick Flohé qui avait réalisé le même bloc en un seul essai cet été, et notre Jules Marchaland national qui avait lui flashé « Power of Now » fin août. « Il y a quelques années, je n’aurais jamais pensé être capable de flasher un 8C ! Je n’avais jamais envisagé d’essayer…Cependant, cet hiver, après avoir flashé plusieurs 8B+ avec une marge, j’ai commencé à envisager cette option. J’avais ce problème particulier en tête comme un bon candidat… Ce printemps, Dylan Chuat m’a envoyé un message pour me dire qu’il pensait que c’était un excellent bloc pour moi. L’étincelle était là. Entre-temps, Yannick Flohe a flashé « Foundation’s Edge », le premier 8C au monde, cet été. Cela m’a rendu encore plus enthousiaste. Le temps et ma forme physique étaient au rendez-vous en novembre, et je savais que j’étais prêt.
La semaine dernière, ma bonne tentative sur « Ziqqurat » 8C (ndlr : expédié en 3 essais après un essai flash) m’a rendu encore plus confiant. Je suis arrivé, bien informé de toutes les méthodes par Dylan, avec Marcello Bombardi et Giovanni Placci pour m’encourager et m’aider avec d’autres méthodes.
Je me suis lancé, et après un essai parfait, j’étais au sommet du bloc, ouvert par Dave. Cela m’a semblé facile, la perfection pure. Un moment incroyable. Plus tard dans la soirée, j’ai failli réussir flash un autre 8C, « Big Nose ». Je l’ai fait deux essais plus tard… Bientôt la vidéo officielle qui sera disponible sur ma chaîne YouTube ! »

Yesterday we announced Greenspit’s flash, and today Flash Gordon Adam Ondra is back at it again, this time on extreme boulders. He has already shown us the extent of his talent over many years (“Confessions,” “Gecko assis,” ‘Jade’) and he got back into the swing of things at the beginning of the year with “El Elegido” (8B+/C) and then “Ligne de bête” 8B+ with us. Now Adam has arrived in Fionnay, Switzerland, and flashed a boulder that suits him perfectly: the physical panel of “Foundations Edge.” This is the third 8C flash in history after German Yannick Flohé who completed the same boulder flash this summer and our Frenchie Jules Marchaland with « Power of Now ». « Some years ago, I would never have thought I would be capable of flashing 8C❗ I never considered trying one… However, this winter, flashing some 8B+’s with margin, I began considering this option. I had this particular problem in my mind as a good candidate. This spring, Dylan Chuat messaged me that he thought this was a great boulder for me. The spark was there. In the meantime, @yannick_flohe flashed Foundation’s Edge as the world’s first 8C this summer. This made me even more psyched. The weather, shape aligned this November, and I knew I was ready!
Last week and my good try in Ziqqurat 8C made me even more confident. I arrived, well informed about all the betas by Dylan with Marcello Bombardi and Giovanni Placci to cheer and help me with more beta.
I set off, and after a perfect try, I was at the top of the boulder (FA by Dave Graham). It felt effortless, pure perfection. Unbelievable moment. Later in the evening, I got really close to flashing another 8C, « Big Nose ». I did 2 tries later…Wait for the proper video, soon on my YouTube channel! »
