On vous avait déjà parlé de ses belles perfs en trad, l’américaine Brittany Goris vient de frapper un grand coup le week-end dernier avec une rare répétition féminine en libre de “Salathé wall” (900m, 8a) sur El Capitan au Yosemite. Une ascension qui lui aura pris 5 jours en paroi. La première en libre de “Salathé” avait été réalisée par Alex Huber en 1995 et du côté des filles seules Steph Davis, Mayan Smith-Gobat et Hazel Findlay avaient réussi le challenge. Voici la première réaction de Brittany sur son compte Instagram :
“Ce fut une course folle du début à la fin, de la première fois où je l’ai travaillée en tête il y a un mois, jusqu’au hissage du dernier sac de transport la nuit dernière alors que le soleil se couchait sur la vallée de Yosemite. J’aurai beaucoup, beaucoup plus à dire à ce sujet dans les jours à venir, mais pour le moment, je suis simplement pleine de reconnaissance pour avoir eu le privilège de gravir un itinéraire aussi historique et magnifique, et bénéficier du soutien de tous ceux qui ont contribué à faire ce rêve une réalité : @hwteuber @garetbleir @shanjean @maxbuschini (le photographe derrière ces images) et tous ceux qui ont cru en moi et m’ont aidé à croire en moi en cours de route.”
We had already upraised you of her amazing sends in tradclimbing, American climber Brittany Goris just completed a big dream last weekend with a rare female free ascent of “Salathé wall” (900m, 8a) on El Capitan, Yosemite. The push took her 5 days on the wall. The first free ascent of “Salathé” was done by Alex Huber in 1995 and for the girls Steph Davis, Mayan Smith-Gobat and Hazel Findlay successfully completed the challenge before Brittany. “It was a wild ride from start to finish, from my first time rapping in to work the headwall a month ago, to the final haul bag laden trudge down last night as the sun set over Yosemite Valley. I have much, much more to say about it in the days to come, but for now I am simply filled with gratitude to have had the privilige to climb such a historic and beautiful route, and for the support of everyone who helped make this dream a reality and everyone who who believed in me and helped me believe in myself along the way.”
