Cédric Lachat répète Sweet neuf 9a+ – Cédric Lachat repeats Sweet neuf 9a+

  • 21/06/2019

A suivre !

Despite poor conditions and some wet holds in the route, Swiss top gun Cédric Lachat just did the second ascent of “Sweet neuf” 9a+ in Pierrot Beach, Presles, France. As you can see on the pics, the route is very steep, in a 40° overhang. “Sweet neuf” links the powerful 15 meters of “Sang neuf” (bolted by Quentin Chastagnier, 2 ascents by Anak Verhoeven and Arthur Guinet) and the end of the very resistant “Home sweet home” (8c/c+ with chipped holds bolted by Ludo Pin, the second part up of the 9a is given 8b+). The first ascent was done by Belgian champion Anak Verhoeven exactly 2 years ago.

“I did 7 sessions before the send. It was all the time a little bit wet and it caused me troubles. But I knew if I could send the 9a I will not fall in the second part in 8b. I climbed only 3 times in the extension and I knew it will be ok. It’s big moves on chipped holds, a stamina effort and I’m used to deal with these kind of routes. About the grade I dunno what to think. It’s easier than “Biographie” and “La Rambla” which are 9a+ benchmarks, but on another way it’s hard, harder than all the 9a’s I have climbed before. The next climbers will see : Quentin Chastagnier and Seb Boussogne are attempting. May be soon other ascents !”

What’s next for Cédric ? He will try very soon the first multi-pitch of his movie project in Switzerland, “Yeah man” in the Gastlosen mountains with Melissa Le Nevé. To be continued !
