Fort de son réseau tentaculaire, Fanatic a missionné (en train) un de ses membres actifs à Flatanger, afin de saucissonner dans le dévers de la grotte et glaner les infos au plus proche des nonogradistes venus d’un peu partout et surtout de loin (et au passage, poncer sa brosse Fanatic sur le granite norvégien quelque peu plâtré). La première réalisation remarquable de la saison revient à Dylan Chuat.
Le grimpeur pro suisse Dylan Chuat vient de frapper un grand coup avec l’ascension du mythique « Move », une des premières ouvertures dans cette difficulté (avec la « Dura Dura », « Change » et « Vasil Vasil »), due à Adam Ondra himself. La ligne part dans la première partie commune avec les classiques « Nordic Flower » et « Nordic Plumber » (et « Silence » par la même occasion…) : à la fin de ce petit 8b il faut changer de corde et s’enquiller les festivités de « Little Badder », un 9a bien physique de notre Bouin national. De là, un repos moyen amène à une section de bloc très teigneuse qui a fait le mythe de la voie : un move d’épaule amène à une mauvaise arquée puis à un croisé torride. C’est la 6ème ascension, après Adam Ondra, Seb Bouin, Alex Megos, Jorge Diaz-Rullo et Domen Škofic (en mai dernier), les répétiteurs s’accordant sur la cotation slashée 9b/+.
Dylan vient de faire la croix, un jour de condis « bien mais pas top » (quand même très fraîches comparées aux températures actuelles en France), après plusieurs runs où il était tombé très proche de l’enchaînement. C’est le premier 9b de Dylan, qui avait déjà coché pas loin de cinq 9a+ (et s’était octroyé une répétition d' »Illusionist », petit 9a, un jour de conditions moisies, il y a une semaine). Le Suisse est en forme ! Une des difficultés pour lui a été de gérer les conditions : après un épisode de canicule il y a deux semaines il s’est mis à faire très humide, Dylan devait faire une montée de séchage des prises dans la section commune avec « little badder » avant chaque essai. With its extensive network, Fanatic Climbing sent one of its active members to Flatanger to explore the cave and gather information from nonogradists who had come from all over, especially from far away (and, incidentally, to use his Fanatic brush on the somewhat dirty Norwegian granite). The first remarkable achievement of the season goes to Dylan Chuat.
Swiss pro climber Dylan Chuat has just made a great tick with the ascent of the legendary “Move,” one of the first openings at this grade (along with “Dura Dura,” “Change,” and “Vasil Vasil”), thanks to Adam Ondra himself. The line starts off in the first section, which is shared with the classics “Nordic Flower” and “Nordic Plumber” (and ‘Silence’ at the same time…): at the end of this short 8b, you have to change ropes and tackle the festivities of “Little Badder,” a very physical 9a. From there, a middle rest leads to a very tricky bouldering section that has made the route legendary: a gaston move leads to a bad crimp and then an insane cross. This is the sixth ascent, after Adam Ondra, Seb Bouin, Alex Megos, Jorge Diaz-Rullo, and Domen Škofic (last May), with repeat climbers agreeing on the slashed grade of 9b/+.
Dylan just sent on a day when conditions were “good but not great” (still very cool compared to current temperatures in France), after several burns where he came very close to completing the sequence. This is Dylan’s first 9b, having already ticked off nearly five 9a+ routes (and having repeated “Illusionist”, a small 9a, on a day with poor conditions a week ago). The Swiss climber is in shape! One of the difficulties for him was managing the conditions: after a heatwave two weeks ago, the weather became very humid, so Dylan had to climb up dry the holds in the shared section with “little badder” before each attempt.
