Le monde du bloc va bientôt débloquer: l’Italien Élias Iagnemma propose la barre forcément symbolique du 9A+ pour sa nouvelle ligne, nommée « Exodia » à San Pellice, Italie. D’après Planet Mountain, qui a fait l’annonce, l’ascension a eu lieu il y a une semaine et le bloc aurait demandé à Élias plus de 200 séances de travail depuis 2021 et sa découverte de ce projet initialement repéré par Christian Core.
L’Italien décrit le bloc comme deux moitiés: d’abord un 8B+ dur, verrou de genoux de 40 secondes pour récupérer, puis un 8C+.
Iagnemma n’est pas un nouveau venu, puisque l’année dernière il répétait « Burden of Dreams » en 25 jours de travail seulement (bien que les puristes soient partagés sur son premier move), et au début 2025 il annonçait également l’ouverture de « Big Slamm« , 9A là aussi.
La cote tiendra-t-elle? Sommes-nous en train de vivre une réelle transition vers le niveau de difficulté supérieur, ou le travail d’Élias en solitaire lui a-t-il fait rater un gros bac (blague)? Qui vivra verra.

The bouldering world is about to be shaken up: Italian climber Elias Iagnemma has set the symbolic 9A+ grade for his new boulder problem, named ‘Exodia’ in San Pellice, Italy. According to Planet Mountain, which made the announcement, the ascent took place a week ago and the boulder is said to have taken Elias more than 200 sessions since 2021 and his discovery of this project, which was initially spotted by Christian Core.
The Italian describes the boulder as two halves: first a hard 8B+, a 40-second kneebar rest, then an 8C+.
Iagnemma is no newcomer, having repeated ‘Burden of Dreams’ in just 25 days last year (although purists are divided on his first move), and in early 2025 he announced the opening of ‘Big Slamm’, also rated 9A.
Will the new grade hold? Are we witnessing a real transition to a higher level of difficulty, or has Elias’ solitary work caused him to miss a big jug (joke)? Only time will tell.
