La grimpeuse américaine Michaela Kiersch est actuellement avec Alex Puccio et Nina Williams à Hueco Tanks où elle vient d’empocher “Crown of Aragorn” 8B. “Crown of Aragorn” est un problème ouvert par Fred Nicole en 1996 proposant une dizaine de mouvements athlétiques sur petites réglettes dans un dévers prononcé. C’est le premier 8B de Michaela et la 3ème féminine du bloc après Shiraishi et Puccio (Alex dans le bloc dans la vidéo ci dessous à 8 min 30). Connue pour ses réalisations en falaise, Michaela monte rapidement en puissance en bloc puisqu”elle avait réalisé son second 8A+ il y seulement 4 jours avec Le Retour de la Goupil. – Fanatic Climbing : Quel est ton bloc préféré et pourquoi ?
– Michaela : Mon bloc préféré est “Free Willy” 7C+ parce que c’est mon style. Petites réglettes/arquées les pieds hauts et un gros jump pour finir !
– Fanatic Climbing : Tu t’es préparée spécialement pour ce trip ?
– Michaela : Je ne me suis pas entraînée en particulier pour ce trip mais j’essaie toujours de garder mon niveau généra d’affûtage le plus haut possible. C’était putôt un séjour pour célébrer la fin de mes études. et mon diplôme.
– Fanatic Climbing : Que fais-tu pour te relaxer et récupérer entre les jours de grimpe ?
– Michaela : Mes jours de repos consistent principalement à dormir et bien manger, regarder Netflix, faire attention à ma peau des doigts et rechercher des méthodes dans les voies sur You Tube et Vimeo.
– Fanatic Climbng : Tu es tout juste diplômée de l’université. Quels sont tes projets ?
– Michaela : Mes projets d’après diplômes sont exclusivement tournés vers la grimpe et es études supérieures, je suis impatiente de venir en Europe ou sur d’autres spots de grimpe aux US aussi.
American climber Michaela Kiersch is currently with Alex Puccio and Nina Williams at Hueco Tanks where she just sent “Crown of Aragorn” 8B. “Crown of Aragorn” is a problem opened by Fred Nicole in 1996 proposing a dozen athletic movements on small crimps in a pronounced overhang. It is the Michaela’s first 8B and she is the 3rd female in the boulder after Shiraishi and Puccio (in the boulder at 8’30 in the video bellow) Knowing for her performance in sportclimbing,. Michaela rises quickly in power in bouldering since she realized her second 8A + only 4 days ago with Le Retour de la Goupil. Read her interview here.

– Fanatic Climbing : What was your favorite boulder problem and why?
– Michaela : My favorite problem has to be Free Willy, V10 because it is very suited to my style. Small edges/crimps, high feet, and a big jump to finish it off!
– Fanatic Climbing : Did you prepare for your trip?
– Michaela : I didn’t train for this trip in particular, but I always try to keep my general climbing fitness up. This was more of a celebratory trip after finishing my undergraduate degree.
– Fanatic Climbing : What do you do to relax and recover between hard climbing days?
– Michaela : My rest days mostly consist of sleeping in, eating well, watching Netflix, skincare, and pulling up beta videos from youtube and Vimeo.
– Fanatic Climbing : You have just graduated from university. What are your plans?
– Michaela : My post-grad plans are to focus more exclusively on climbing as well as apply to graduate school. I am looking forward to heading back to Europe and other climbing locations in the US.
