*** A bloc !
Après son coup d’éclat à Massone et le flash de « Pure Dreaming », Janja Garnbret poursuit dans les blocs au Val Daone toujours non loin d’Arco en Italie : la double championne olympique continue de dérouler avec « Quick work of rude » 8B+, puis « L’Oppio dei Climbers » 8B+, un gros panneau à tenue de prise.
En Suisse, Jules Marchaland et Mejdi Shalck peaufinent leur préparation pour leur trip US de fin d’année à Val Bavona (Suisse) : le premier règle son compte à « Solar Plexus » 8C tandis que Mejdi réalise son plus gros flash avec « Casavino » 8B+ à Brione après un gros combat. Diego Fourbet empoche quant à lui la seconde ascension de « Troisième oeil » 8C, un bloc ouvert par Giuliano Cameroni. Au Japon, le coréen Lee Sung su empoche quant à lui l’esthétique « Floatin » 8C+.
After her spectacular performance in Massone and the flash of “Pure Dreaming,” Janja Garnbret continues to climb boulders in Val Daone, not far from Arco in Italy: the double Olympic champion continues to impress with “Quick work of rude” 8B+, then “L’Oppio dei Climbers” 8B+, a board with crimps.
In Switzerland, Jules Marchaland and Mejdi Shalck are fine-tuning their preparations for their end-of-year US trip in Val Bavona (Switzerland): the former has conquered “Solar Plexus” 8C, while Mejdi has achieved his biggest flash with “Casavino” 8B+ in Brione after a tough battle. Diego Fourbet, meanwhile, has made the second ascent of “Troisième oeil” 8C, a boulder opened by Giuliano Cameroni. In Japan, Corean Lee Sung Su managed a repeat of « Floatin » V16.
*** En falaise !
Les grimpeurs italiens sont en forme : Lorenzo Bogliacino empoche « Lapsus » le célèbre 9a+/b de conti d’Andonno en continuant de rêver de cocher un vrai 9b en tant que grimpeur amateur, payant sa paire de chaussons et travaillant la semaine. Lucas Bana libère lui « The Master » 9a+/b, une première ascension sur la falaise mythique de Cornalba, une voie qui il avait lui-même équipé en novembre 2023. A noter qu’une version plus dure est possible en rejoignant la voie par « Goldrake » (9a+), un challenge futuriste restant à libérer !
En France, c’est dans les Gorges du Loup que les conditions semblent les meilleures actuellement, et Claudia Ghisolfi s’en donne à cœur joie avec « TTT » 9a à Déversé, ainsi qu’une répétition du « Côté obscur » 8c+ à Jurassic Park. Notre championne de France Manon Hily profite aussi de la fin de la saison internationale pour prendre un peu de bon temps en falaise avec « TTT » aussi, une voie rendue un peu plus difficile depuis cet été et la casse de la fine prise clé du crux après qu’un indélicat ait posé un genou dessus… Côté français, un jeune toulousain, Hypolite Vilanova (16 ans) réalise son premier 9a avec « Seleccio natural » à Santa Linya.
A Squamish, l’américaine Quinn Mason réalise son projet estival avec « Spirit Quest » 9a au Paradise Wall, une voie magnifique sur granite qu’elle avait commencé à bosser en août.
Italian climbers are in good shape: Lorenzo Bogliacino just climbed “Lapsus,” the famous 9a+/b stamina route of Andonno, while continuing to dream of ticking off a real 9b as an amateur climber, paying for his own climbing shoes and working during the week. Lucas Bana has freed “The Master” 9a+/b, a first ascent on the legendary Cornalba crag, a route he bolted himself in November 2023. It should be noted that a harder version is possible by joining the route via “Goldrake” (9a+), a futuristic challenge yet to be freed!

A Majorque, Mecque du Psicobloc, Jernej Kruder réalise la 3ème ascension de « Big Fish » (8c+/9a) à Port de Soller, après Chris Sharma et Matty Hong. Le slovène s’affirme comme un vrai spécialiste du style, lui qui a déjà réalisé la seconde ascension du mythique Es Pontas en 2016 !
In Mallorca, the Mecca of Psicobloc, Jernej Kruder has made the third ascent of “Big Fish” (8c+/9a) in Port de Soller, after Chris Sharma and Matty Hong. The Slovenian has established himself as a true specialist in this style, having already made the second ascent of the legendary Es Pontas in 2016!
