Camille Coudert plie enfin Imothep Assis !
Il n’y a pas que Charles Albert, y’a aussi Coudert ! Notre Camille national vient de concrétiser son projet de plusieurs saisons, avec le mythique Imothep assis ! Il s’agit d’ajouter deux mouvements extrêmes au déjà très dur Imothep (du sol), 8B+ ouvert par Camille lui-même en 2023. On se souvient que Camille a débloqué le dernier mouv’ qui lui manquait l’an dernier, en même temps qu’Adam Ondra, lors de la visite du Tchèque désormais rentrée dans les anales bleausardes, où celui-ci avait plié la moitié des blocs durs de la forêt. Camille avait alors compris l’utilité de la technique de pieds en essayant la paire signature d’Adam, lui qui avait l’habitude d’essayer le bloc avec des chaussons une pointure plus grande « pour plus de confort », conseil de pro prodigué par l’inénarrable Charles Albert. Une croix qui a bénéficié des avancées technologiques récentes, avec l’utilisation par Camille de drones ventilateurs pilotés par IA, qui permettent de se passer d’assistants soufflerie. Une évolution des pratiques qui laisse la rédaction perplexe.

Adam Ondra signe la seconde ascension de BIG !
On l’attendait depuis des années, c’était devenu la bête noire et la phobie du magicien tchèque, au point qu’il ne venait plus à Flatanger, qu’il considère comme sa falaise de cœur, qu’avec la boule au ventre et le trac au sac à magne. Profitant de sa forme exceptionnelle du moment, preuve en est le nombre hallucinant de flashs extrêmes qu’il a réalisés récemment, il vient de faire un aller-retour à la journée entre la république Tchèque et la Norvège dont il a le secret pour dérouiller enfin son énorme projet : la voie B.I.G., dont la première ascension revient à Jakob Schubert en 2023, qui avait proposé la cotation considérable de 9c. Adam, le grimpeur de tous les superlatifs, devient donc la seule personne au monde à avoir enchaîné deux 9c. Il n’a de cesse que de continuer à entrer dans la légende éternelle du sport de la varappe !
Adam souffrait depuis plusieurs années des conditions dans la voie qui est la plupart du temps trempée, quand les températures ne sont pas trop chaudes ou l’humidité ambiante trop élevée. La solution qu’il a trouvée est radicale : les résurgences provenant d’une source principale située en haut de la voie, il a fait installer par Olaf la légende locale un drain et une pompe sur batterie à même le granite, que son équipe met en route au début de chaque session ! Une autre clé a consisté à optimiser la première longueur en 7a, rendue difficile par la surfréquentation de la voie relativement à son statut de L1 d’une des voies les plus dures du monde, à défaut de ses qualités intrinsèques.

La Française était sur le coup depuis une bonne quantité de saisons, il lui aura fallu rencontrer Lucien Martinez qui dans sa grande sagesse de grimpeur expérimenté lui a enfin appris l’astuce : à Céüse les vraies croix se font en hiver, les condis se font la malle dès la fonte des neiges ! C’est une croix exceptionnelle que signe la championne réunionnaise d’origine et marseillaise d’adoption, et donc friande de conditions froides, la seconde ascension féminine après Margo Hayes. Voici la réaction à chaud de Manon : « Ca fait plaisir de mettre un but à toutes les autres filles qui essayaient, au moins moi je ne vais pas vieillir avec mon projet trop dur pour moi comme d’autres haha. Heureusement que Janja a pas encore essayé pour préférer aller patiner Bibliographie parce qu’elle aurait pu me voler la second female ascent haha. Et puis au moins avec cette voie légendaire les mecs pourront pas dire que parce qu’une meuf l’a enchainée c’est forcément une douille, on touche pas à Sharma, en plus la voie ne changera pas, comme toutes ces autres bouses extrêmes où la moitié des prises est soit taillée, soit sikatée, soit péteuse haha. » Une franchise qui donne un coup de fraîcheur au milieu de la grimpe pro par trop souvent politiquement correct et aseptisée dans ses communications. Et une citation que n’importe qui connaissant Manon reconnaîtra comme apocryphe, à défaut d’être hypocrite.

Camille Coudert has finally beaten Imothep Assis!
It’s not just Charles Albert – there’s Coudert too! The French monster Camille has just completed a project he’s been working on for several seasons: the legendary Imothep sit start! It involves adding two extreme moves to the already extremely difficult Imothep, an 8B+ first climbed by Camille himself in 2023. Remember that Camille cracked the final move he was missing last year, at the same time as Adam Ondra, during the Czech climber’s visit – now etched into Bleausard history – when Ondra flashed half of the forest’s hardest boulders. Camille had then realised the value of footwork by trying out Adam’s signature shoes, having previously been in the habit of attempting the boulder in shoes one size too big “for greater comfort” – a piece of professional advice bestowed by the one and only Charles Albert. A climb that has benefited from recent technological advances, with Camille using AI-controlled fan drones, which eliminate the need for fan assistants. A shift in practices that leaves the editorial team perplexed.

Adam Ondra completes the second ascent of BIG!
We’d been waiting for it for years; it had become the Czech magician’s bane and phobia, to the point where he would only return to Flatanger—which he considers his favourite crag—with a knot in his stomach and nerves in his chalk bag. Capitalising on his exceptional shape—as evidenced by the staggering number of extreme flash ascents he’s recently achieved— he has just made a day trip from the Czech Republic to Norway–a feat only he knows how to pull off–to finally tackle his massive project: the route B.I.G., first ascended by the Austrian legend Jakob Schubert in 2023, who had given it the impressive grade of 9c. Adam, the climber of all superlatives, thus becomes the only person in the world to have completed two 9c routes. He shows no sign of stopping as he continues to cement his place in the eternal legend of the sport of rock climbing!
Adam had been struggling for several years with the conditions on the route, which is usually at least partially wet unless the temperatures are too high or the ambient humidity too great. The solution he found was radical: as the water seeps from a main source located at the top of the route, he had the local legend Olaf install a drain and a battery-powered pump directly into the granite, which his team switches on at the beginning of every session! Another key factor was optimising the first 7a pitch, which had become increasingly difficult due to the route being over-climbed, relative to its status as the first pitch of one of the world’s hardest routes, rather than its intrinsic qualities.

The Frenchwoman had been on it for quite a few seasons; it took meeting Lucien Martinez, who, in his wisdom as an experienced climber, finally taught her the trick: in Céüse, the conditions disappear as soon as the snow melts! It’s an exceptional achievement for the champion, originally from the island of Réunion and now based in Marseille—and therefore a huge fan of cold conditions—marking the second female ascent after Margo Hayes. Here’s Manon’s immediate reaction: “It’s nice to realise I am better than other girls who were trying; at least I won’t grow old with a project that’s too hard for me, like some others haha. Luckily Janja hasn’t tried it yet, preferring to go and polish Bibliographie, because she might have stolen the second female ascent from me, haha. And at least with this legendary route, the lads won’t be able to say that just because a girl has sent it, it must be a soft route; you don’t mess with Sharma. Plus, the route won’t change, unlike all those other extreme rubbish routes where half the holds are either chipped, with sika, or rotten, haha.” A frankness that brings a breath of fresh air to the world of professional climbing, which is all too often politically correct and sanitised in its communications. And a quote that anyone who knows Manon will recognise as apocryphal, if not downright hypocritical.
