Victor Guillermin, le jeune crusher polyvalent caillou-plastique de 20 ans, publie une bien belle vidéo de son ascension de « Aloha », 9a du Kronthal, Alsace, en mars dernier. Images léchées, grès rouge comme toujours photogénique au possible, le tout couronné par de jolis moves de grimpe dans un toit tout aussi physique que technique.
Après deux montées de calage, le premier run fut le bon pour un « 9a solide » à la journée. Victor Guillermin en profite donc pour étoffer son CV à ce niveau, puisqu’il compte déjà « Avaatara », « TTT » et « Estado Critico » dans son escarcelle, ainsi que le 9a+ de « Sachidananda« .
Il s’agit seulement de la quatrième ascension d’une voie qui devrait en faire rêver plus d’un, après sa libération en 2007 par Julius Westphal. Adam Ondra la répéta en premier en 2009, puis une disparition des radars jusqu’en 2021, lorsqu’Antoine Kauffmann s’octroya la troisième ascension. À priori une (la?) voie la plus dure du Nord de la France, et un rêve d’enfant qui se concrétise pour Victor longtemps après avoir regardé la vidéo de la première ascension.

Victor Guillermin, the versatile 20-year-old rock and plastic crusher, has released a beautiful video of his ascent of ‘Aloha’, a 9a route in Kronthal, Alsace, last March. With aesthetics images and a red sandstone as photogenic as ever, the video is crowned by some beautiful climbing moves on a roof that is as physical as it is technical.
After two attempts, the first run was successful for a ‘solid 9a’ on the day. Victor Guillermin is therefore adding to his CV at this level, as he already has ‘Avaatara’, “TTT” and ‘Estado Critico’ under his belt, as well as the 9a+ ‘Sachidananda’.
This is only the fourth ascent of a route that really should inspire many, after its first ascent in 2007 by Julius Westphal. Adam Ondra was the first to repeat it in 2009, then it disappeared from the radar until 2021, when Antoine Kauffmann bagged the third ascent. Probably one of (if not the) most difficult routes in northern France, and a childhood dream come true for Victor, long after watching the video of the first ascent as a wee boy.
