Yeah Man répété en libre par Cédric Lachat – Yeah Man free climbed by Cédric Lachat

  • 04/07/2019

First stop in Gastlosen for Cédric Lachat and his multipitch movie project “Swissway to heaven” has been a huge success ! Cédric freed the multi-pitch « Yeah Man » 330m on Sunday with Caroline Minvielle in a 5 hour30 push without fall ! “Yeah Man” offers 9 pitches with an 8th keypitch in the 8b+ grade (50 meters). For him, it’s the first slaby pitches in 8a and 8a+ which are the hardest of the route, the 8b+ is more resistance on crimps and less complicated to climb. Bolted by François Studemann and Guy Scherreren 1998, the route was known as the hardest challenge of Pfadflue’s North Face. On 2010 August 1st, Giovanni Quirici did the first free ascent of the whole route. Killed in a tragic accident in 2012 on Eiger’s North Face, Giovanni was a good friend of Cédric. Repeat this line was for Cédric the way to pay tribute to his buddy.

Free climbed a multipitch is not only a performance but a superb human adventure and a team work. I would like to thank Caroline Minvielle who came belaying me for the send and helped me to put the ropes and the gear off. A huge thank to Matthieu Hamon for his support and for bringing the gear. It was a nice first adventure and I will never forget it. Now it’s time for some action in Eiger with the route “Odyssée” with Tobias Suter. “
