3h45 ! C’est le temps qu’il a fallu au Britannique Hamish McArthur pour cocher son second 9A bloc, moins de 2 semaines après son premier, « No one Mourns the Wicked », toujours dans le Colorado. Ce bloc avait été établi fin 2024 par Nathaniel Coleman, et rajoute un départ assis en 8B à l’esthétique « Defying Gravity » 8C avec en guise de crux un dynamique des plus purs ! Hamish s’est permis le luxe de le répéter en une séance, après avoir réalisé très rapidement le debout. Pour rappel il avait passé 8 séances pour répéter « Megatron ». Ici le bloc aura plié en 2 coups de cuillère à pot. Dans notre article de lundi nous nous posions la question de qui pouvait repousser encore les limites du bloc ; quand on apprend une nouvelle fois ce genre de performances incroyables, on se dit que le 9A+ bloc est sûrement pour bientôt ! Alors bloc facile pour le niveau ou bloc dans son style et athlète en forme olympique, l’avenir nous le dira. This boulder was established at the end of 2024 by Nathaniel Coleman, and adds a sit start in 8B to the aesthetic ‘Defying Gravity’ 8C, which offers some of the purest dynamic moves!
Hamish allowed himself the luxury of repeating it in one session, after very quickly securing the standing start. As a reminder, he spent 8 sessions repeating ‘Megatron’. Here, the boulder fell in 2 swift goes. In our article last Monday, we wondered who could push the limits of bouldering even further; when you hear about this kind of incredible performances yet again, you’d be forgiven for thinking that 9A+ is surely just around the corner! Whether it’s easy bouldering for the level or bouldering in his own style and an athlete in Olympic form, time will tell.
