It takes you ten days to get up, and three seconds to get down. Bouldering is such a stupid sport.” With these words Alex Megos celebrated his first ascent of “Upgrade U” in Frankenjura, a roof low ball with some moves beta dependant and a toe-hook crux. This 20 years project was tried by some local climbers but remained unclimbed. ” I still think though that 8C is an appropriate grade for it and I believe its the hardest boulder in the Frankenjura at the moment.” he comments. The strong German climber gave a repeat of “Montecore” or “Wrath of the Lichking” both 8B+/C. But he didn’t repeat yet “Gossip” (3rd 8C of bouldering history, first ascent Markus Bock 2002) and “Half life (first ascent Felix Knaub 2012).
ENjoy the powerful climb offered by “Upgrade U” in the video above!
