Quelques jours après son flash le plus dur, Seb Bouin revient à la charge à Saint Auban. Pour commencer, il libère en trois montées une ligne d’Adrien Boulon répondant au nom de “Destruction”. Il la propose à 8c+. Après quoi, notre Bouin national a décidé d’équiper un départ plus direct.
Après quelques montées de travail, le grimpeur cale ses méthodes. Une en particulier attire son attention : un coincement de main, digne d’un bon vieux briscard de trad. Ceci dit, là aussi Bouin innove. Grace à deux judicieux coincements de genou (avant et après le crux de “trad”), le montpelliérain choisit d’enfiler le gant de fissures juste avant celle-ci, et à de l’enlever juste après. Pratique, sachant que la voie comporte aussi des aplats, lesquels ne font pas bon ménage avec des gants.
C’est ainsi que nait “Jamming Destruction”.

“Cela ressemble un peu au bloc “The Big Island” à Fontainebleau. Je pensais que ça pourrait être trop dur au début. Mais après quelques essais, j’ai trouvé une méthode de fou. Une vidéo va sortir, voici un petit teaser.
Il y a une particularité dans cette voie : elle comporte un crux avec un coincement de main où il faut vraiment porter un gant de fissures. Sinon, ça semble impossible.
Comme le gant de fissures est gênant pour grimper fort sur des plats, je n’ai pas voulu le porter pour la première partie. Le problème était de le mettre avant la deuxième partie et le crux.
J’ai trouvé un genou juste avant le deuxième crux, et j’ai pu enfiler le gant à ce moment-là. J’ai également trouvé un autre genou juste après le coincement de main, où j’ai pu retirer le gant. C’est un peu de logistique, mais ça ne marche pas sinon.”

A few days after his hardest flash to date, Seb Bouin is at it again in Saint Auban. To start, he frees in three tries a line of Adrian Boulon answering to the name of “Destruction”. He proposes the grade of 8c+ for it. After which, Bouin decides to bolt a more direct start.
After a few working goes, the climber finds his methods. But one in particular draws attention: a hand jam, worthy of a good old trad veteran. That said, here too Bouin innovates. Thanks to two judicious knee jams (before and after the jamming crux), the Montpellier man chooses to put the crack glove on just before it’s needed, and to take it off right after. Handy, knowing that the route also comprises sloppers, which do not mix well with gloves.
‘Jamming Destruction’ is thus born.

‘It looks a bit like “The big Island” boulder in fontainebleau. I was thinking it might be too hard at the
beginning. But after few goes I found some crazy beta. Stay tuned for the video.
There is one particularity in this route : there is a crux with a full hand jam where you really need to wear
a crack glove. If not, it feels impossible.
As the crack glove is annoying for climbing hard on slopers, I didn’t want to wear it for the first part.
The problem was to put it before the second part and the hand jam crux.
I found a kneebar right before the second crux, and I was able to put the crack glove on at this moment.
I also found a kneebar right after the hand jam crux, where I was able to remove the crack glove.
It’s a bit of logistics, but it doesn’t work if not.’
