Cette voie discrète au nom évocateur, « Ego Land » a été ouverte dans la face Sud de la Marmolada il y a tout juste deux ans, début août 2024, par la cordée italienne Max Faletti et Berni Rivadoissi. Trois semaines plus tard, ce dernier y retourne avec un nouveau compagnon de cordée, Luca Bana, et la libère intégralement. La légende de cette nouvelle pépite de l’escalade moderne, alliant la performance, le style et l’engagement, est en marche. Edu Marin et Mercallo Bombardi sont les premiers à répéter en 2025, puis Adam Ondra qui vient y frotter ses chaussons le 24 juin dernier, sans doute attiré par le caractère très complet de la voie. Rapidement suivi par une autre légende, Enzo Oddo, le 16 juillet 2026. Des qualités qui ont également tapées dans l’œil de la jeune fratrie française des Ladevant. Le 13 août, Louna Ladevant, 25 ans, y inscrit son nom en la libérant à son tour.
Ego Land est une voie d’une difficulté extrême en altitude, et c’est certainement la perspective de se mettre « une belle mission », qui a guidé les pas des frangins, Tristan et Louna, dans les Alpes italiennes en ce mois d’août. Et ils auront eu raison de s’y attarder, car le 13 août, Louna Ladevant parvient à signer la répétition intégrale de la voie, à vue pour la deuxième moitié, car les créneaux météo ne lui auront laissé que très peu de répits.
10 longueurs, 410m de falaise verticale, déversant même (ce qui leur permet d’être à l’abri de la pluie par moment !), intense jusqu’au bout car si les premières longueurs sont équipées en mode escalade sportive sur spits réguliers (7b+, 8a, 8c/+, 8b+), la deuxième partie de la voie est en trad, engagée (8a, 8a, 7c, 7c, 7b, 6c) en mode escalade alpine. C’est sans doute ce qui rend cette voie si complète, mêlant performance et engagement en altitude.
Louna, soutenu par Tristan qui « repoudre » de magnésie certaines longueurs afin d’accompagner le travail de son frère, réussit à libérer la voie intégralement le 13 août 2026, la finissant à la frontale. Le tout en passant plus de onze heures les pieds dans les chaussons qui les mèneront à plus de 2 800m d’altitude dans la Marmolada.
Pour en venir à bout, et libérer de nouveau cette voie, il fallait une cordée solide. Louna et Tristan Ladevant ont développé une expertise et une complicité que peu de binômes atteindront. Après la libération en 2023 par Louna de la voie « Wogü » dans le Rätikon suisse, il leur fallait une mission qui allait dans la continuité des grandes voies mythiques et extrêmes des Alpes à libérer. « Bravo aux ouvreurs pour avoir imaginé cette ligne remarquable par la qualité du rocher, la difficulté, l’engagement et la diversité de l’escalade qu’elle propose. Une véritable King Line ! ».

This unassuming route with the evocative name “Ego Land” was first ascended on the south face of the Marmolada exactly two years ago, in early August 2024, by the Italian climbing team of Max Faletti and Berni Rivadoissi. Three weeks later, Rivadoissi returned with a new climbing partner, Luca Bana, and completed the free ascent of the entire route. The legend of this new gem of modern climbing—combining performance, style, and commitment—is taking shape. Edu Marin and Mercallo Bombardi were the first to repeat the route in 2025, followed by Adam Ondra, who came to test it on June 24 of this year, no doubt drawn by the route’s well-rounded nature. He was quickly followed by another legend, Enzo Oddo, on July 16th this summer. These qualities also caught the eye of the Ladevant brothers. On August 13, Louna Ladevant, 25, added his name to the list.
Ego Land is an extremely difficult high-altitude route, and it was certainly the prospect of taking on “a great challenge” that guided brothers Tristan and Louna to the Italian Alps this August. And they were right to stick with it, because on August 13, Louna Ladevant managed to complete the full repeat of the route, onsight for the second half, as the weather windows left her very little breathing room.
10 pitches, 410 meters of vertical cliff face—even overhanging in places (which keeps climbers sheltered from the rain at times!)—intense right to the end, because while the first pitches are bolted in the sport climbing style with regular bolts (7b+, 8a, 8c/+, 8b+), the second part of the route is traditional, high-commitment climbing (8a, 8a, 7c, 7c, 7b, 6c) in alpine style. This is undoubtedly what gives the route its well-rounded character—a blend of technical skill and commitment at high altitude.
Louna, assisted and supported by Tristan—who “re-powders” certain pitches with chalk to help his brother’s efforts—succeeded in freeclimbing the entire route on August 13, 2026, finishing it by headlamp. More than eleven hours with their feet in climbing shoes took them to an altitude of over 2,800 meters in the Marmolada.
To conquer it and free climb this route once again, a strong climbing team was essential. Louna and Tristan Ladevant have developed a level of expertise and rapport that few climbing partners will ever achieve. After Louna’s free ascent of the « Wogü » route in the Swiss Rätikon in 2023, they needed a challenge that would build on the legacy of the legendary and extreme multi-pitch routes in the Alps waiting to be free climbed. “Kudos to the bolters for conceiving this remarkable line—remarkable for the quality of the rock, the difficulty, the commitment, and the diversity of climbing it offers.
