Le grimpeur belge Nicolas Favresse a réalisé la première ascension de “Eye of Sauron” 5.13a/b (7c+/8a) en compagnie d’Alex Morris et Drew Smith. Cette voie de 400 mètres se situe au secteur Ribbon Falls et le crux consiste en un impressionnant passage qui traverse tout droit dans un toit.
A El Capitan, Nicolas Favresse a aussi grimpé “The Premiur” 5.13c/d (8a+/8b) avec Sean Villanueva et Klaas Willems. ainsi que “El Corazón” (5.13b /8a), 35 longueurs en réversible avec Siebe Vanhee, entièrement à vue mis a part une chute. Enfin il n´a fait qu’une bouchée de pain de la face sud du Mont Watkins (5.13b/8a) avec une ascension entièrement en tête et flash le tout assuré par Nicola Martinez. Tout un programme !
Les premiers flocons de neige sont tombés hier sur les hauteurs du parc mais certains grimpeurs ont décidé que cela ne signe pas pour autant la fin de la saison ! A suivre …
Belgian climber Nicolas Favresse made the first ascent of Eye of Sauron 5.13a/b (7c +/ 8a) with Alex Morris and Drew Smith. This 400 m route is located in the Ribbon Falls sector and the crux is an impressive section that runs straight through a roof.
On El Capitain, Nicolas Favresse climbed The Premiur 5.13c/d (8a +/8b) with Sean Villanueva and Klaas Willems as well as El Corazón (5.13b (8a), 35 pitches) in reversible with Siebe Vanhee entirely onsighted aside from a fall. He also free climbed the south face of Mount Watkins (5.13b/8a) with a lead and flash climb and this belayed by Nicola Martinez. What a program!
The first snow flakes fell yesterday on the heights of the park but it does not sign the end of the season, Story to follow …
