Ainhize Belar, 18 ans, originaire du pays Basque est une grimpeuse espagnole en pleine progression. L’an dernier, Ainhize marchait sur les traces de la légende locale Josune Bereziartu avec des répétitions de “Honky Tonly” et “Honky Mix” à Onate, s’offrant aussi une rare répétition féminine de “Wallstreet” dans le Frankenjura ainsi que son premier 9a avec “Begi Puntuan” à Etxauri. Ainhize vient de passer à la vitesse supérieure avec son premier 9a+ au pays, “Ini Ameriketan”, une voie qu’elle avait en fil rouge depuis ce printemps. Cette ligne, qui raye l’impressionnant porche du fond de la grotte de Baltzola, avait été proposée à 9a par Rikar Otegui, le premier ascensionniste en 2002 et répétée par Patxi Usobiaga avant qu’Adam Ondra ne la répète aussi en 2014 et la réévalue à 9a+, la jugeant un bon cran au-dessus de “Il domani” 9a qu’il avait réussie à vue et qui partage le même départ. Depuis, seul Iban Larrion en 2016 l’avait aussi réussie (vidéo ci-dessous). AInhize, qu’on savait actuellement en forme, réalisant il y a quelques jours du 8b+ à vue à La Leze avec “Txirrin txirran”, a profité de son retour de vacances d’été pour conclure l’affaire !
“Je savais que ce projet ne serait pas seulement difficile pour moi à cause de sa difficulté, mais aussi parce que trouver une voie sèche avec des conditions serait très difficile. Après avoir insisté et ne pas avoir pu me sortir l’itinéraire de la tête pendant ces derniers mois, j’ai pu clipper la chaîne à mon second jour après mon retour de vacances ! Très heureuse de faire la première ascension féminine, après plusieurs années sans répétitions. C’était un plus de motivation pour être la prochaine après ces références ! Sans aucun doute, un processus qui m’a permis d’apprendre beaucoup !”

Last year, Ainhize first followed in the footsteps of the local legend Josune Bereziartu with repeats of “Honky Tonly” and “Honky Mix” in Onate, and also grabbed a rare women’s repeat of “Wallstreet” in Frankenjura, as well as her first 9a with “Begi Puntuan” in Etxauri. Ainhize just reached another step with her first 9a+, “Ini Ameriketan”, a route she has had in her sights since this spring. This line, which traverses the impressive overhang at the bottom of the Baltzola cave, had been proposed at 9a by Rikar Otegui, (first ascent in 2002), and repeated by Patxi Usobiaga before Adam Ondra also repeated it in 2014 and giving it the grade of 9a+, judging it way harder compared to “Il domani”, the 9a he did onsight which is sharing the same start. Since then, only Iban Larrion repeated it in 2016 (video below). AInhize, who was known to be currently in good shape, climbing an 8b+ onsight at La Leze a few days ago with “Txirrin txirran”, took advantage of his return from summer vacation to complete the route!
“I knew that this project would be difficult for me not only because of its difficulty, but also because finding a dry route in conditions would be very complicated. After persisting and not being able to get the route out of my head for the last few months, I was able to clip in the chain on my second day back from vacation! I was very happy to make the first female ascent, after several years without repeating, it was an extra motivation to be the next one after these references! Without a doubt, a process that allowed me to learn a lot!”
