Un mot obsède Edu Marin en cette année 2018 : “Valhalla” (paradis chez les vikings). Après avoir réalisé la seconde ascension de cette voie à Flatanger cet été , Edu a choisi aussi ce nom pour nommer son projet de grande-voie dans la grande arche du site de Getu en Chine. Après l’acte 1 et l’équipement de la voie ce printemps avec son frère, Edu est de retour cette fin d’année pour défricher la voie en compagnie de son frère Alex et de son père Novato. Il vient d’annoncer qu’après plusieurs mois d’efforts, la voie est possible.
Le challenge propose 14 longueurs en tout pour 304 mètres de pur plafond à 150 mètres de haut, avec une longueur clé en 9a+ et deux autres en 8c+. De quoi rivaliser avec “The Dawn wall” pour la grande-voie la plus dure au Monde même si le profil est complètement différent.
Niveau statistiques, ce travail colossal a demandé à Edu et son équipe pas moins de 50 jours d’équipement, 300 points à poser, 600 mètres de corde pour 380 mètres de développé, un temps estimé de 12 heures en paroi pour réussir l’ascension en libre… Reste la troisième étape du processus qu’Edu est en train de démarrer : tenter de libérer toutes les longueurs en libre puis lancer des tentatives du sol. A word obsessed Edu Marin in this year 2018: “Valhalla” (aka Vikings paradise). After making the second ascent of “Valhalla” in Flatanger this summer, Edu also chose this expression to name his multi-pitch project in the big arch of Getu, China. After Act 1 and the bolting of the route this Spring with his brother, Edu is back this end of year to clean and try the route with his brother Alex and his father Novato. He has just announced that after several months of efforts, the project is doable.
The challenge offers 14 pitches for 304 meters of pure roof at 150 meters high, with a key pitch in 9a + and two others in the 8c+ range. A contender to “The dawn wall” for the hardest bigwall of the World even if the profile is completely different.
Speaking about numbers, this colossal work took to Edu and his team no less than 50 days of bolting, 300 bolts nailed, 600 meters of rope required for 380 meters lenght, 12 hours of estimated time to free climb it… Now it’s time for the third step of this process that Edu is starting to climb all the pitches and to give some push attempts from the ground.
