Noah Wheeler est à coup sûr un des nouveaux prodiges du bloc américain. En quelques coups de cuillère à pot et une facilité déconcertante, il réalise la seconde ascension d’un des blocs les plus durs du pays avec « Shaolin » (9A). Ce passage ouvert par Sean Bailey à Red Rocks empile un 8B bloc d’approche et un 8C bloc extrêmement aléatoire proposant deux énormes blocages en mode pan Güllich avec une ballant compliqué à appréhender. Dès son 2ème jour sur place, Noah empilera le crux du bloc et ne fait ensuite qu’une bouchée de la ligne, s’offrant par la même son premier 9A. Bloc vraiment dans ses cordes ? Facile pour les adeptes du style newschool ? Ou OVNI de la scène bloc US ? L’avenir nous le dira ! Mais après avoir vu cette vidéo, il devient évident que Noah semble posséder toutes les cartes pour repousser un peu plus les limites de la haute difficulté en bloc, tout comme d’autres acteurs comme Adam Ondra qui a plié « Soudain Seul » en 5 petites séances en février, Simon Lorenzi ou Will Bosi qui ont pas mal de réalisations au compteur, Shawn Raboutou… Ou pourquoi pas nos bleausards Coudert/Pelorson/Albert !
Noah Wheeler is undoubtedly one of the new prodigies of the American bouldering scene. With just a few sessions and a disconcerting ease, he completed the second ascent of one of the hardest boulders in the country with “Shaolin” (9A). This problem, opened by Sean Bailey at Red Rocks, links an 8B approach into an extremely sketchy 8C offering two huge campus moves with a complicated swing to control. On his 2nd day, Noah solved the crux of the boulder and then made short work of the entire line, for his first 9A boulder in the process. A boulder suiting him very well? Easy for newschool boulderers? Or a UFO of the US bouldering scene? Only time will tell! But after watching this video, it’s clear that Noah has what it takes to push the limits of high difficulty bouldering a little further, just like other players like Adam Ondra, who sent “Soudain Seul” in 5 short sessions in February, Simon Lorenzi and Will Bosi, who have quite a few achievements under their belts… Shawn Raboutou, or why not, our Bleausards Coudert/Pelorson/Albert!
