Babsi Zangerl réalise Sprengstoff 9a – Babsi Zangerl sends Sprengstoff 9a

Babsi Zangerl vient de réaliser la seconde ascension de “Sprengstoff”, 9a à Vorarlberg en Autriche. La première ascension de la voie avait été réalisée par son chéri Jacopo Larcher en novembre dernier. C’est la seconde voie en 9ème degré de la grimpeuse autrichienne qui avait réalisé “Speed integrale” il y a deux ans. Voici son commentaire laissé sur les réseaux sociaux :

“Tomber après la dernière dégaine était dur pour les nerfs. J’ai toujours pensé ne jamais pouvoir tomber à cet endroit, si haut dans la ligne. C’était inattendu et m’a ajouté un extra challenge. Les repos entre les essais devenaient plus longs que d’habitude pour récupérer complètement et me donner la chance de me battre au-dessus de cette dernière dégaine, les progrès étaient timides. Cette voie, c’est de la pure endurance de force jusqu’en haut, pas d’erreurs autorisées.
Finalement, la chose la plus cool avec ce type de projet est que tu te réveilles tous les jours super motivée. J’étais impatiente d’y retourner, de mettre des essais à fond et de trouver comment grimper chaque mouvement parfaitement. C’est probablement la voie d’escalade sportive la plus dure et la plus belle que j’ai réalisée.

“Sprengstoff était un projet ouvert depuis 25 ans et Jacopo en a fait la première il y a quelques mois. Je suis contente de suivre avec la première répétition. Merci à ma sœur Claudia Ziegler pour l’assurage lors de la réussite.
À la fin je suis toujours un peu triste quand c’est fini. Même si ce n’est qu’un bout de rocher, je pense que c’est bien plus pour nous les grimpeurs ! J’espère sincèrement que ce mur sera encore là longtemps, pour les prochaines générations de grimpeurs. C’est clairement ce genre d’endroits qui est en danger. C’est placé juste à côté d’une carrière et ce n’est pas sûr que la falaise reste là à jamais. J’espère qu’elle sera préservée dans le futur.

Babsi Zangerl just did the second ascent of “Sprengstoff” 9a in Vorarlberg, Austria. The first ascent was done by her boyfriend Jacopo Larcher last November. Its Babsis second 9th grade route. She climbed her first 9a with “Speed integrale” 2 years ago. Here is her comment.

“Falling off after the last draw—was nerve-wracking. I always thought I would never fall at this point high up at the end of the line.
This was unexpected and added an extra mental challenge to me.
The resting- breaks in between tries needed to be way longer as usual to get power back and the chance to fall right after the first draw was part of the game and made the progress even more delicate.
Pure power endurance until the very top-> no mistakes allowed.

At the end of the day the coolest thing about such a project is that you wake up every single day highly motivated.
I couldn’t wait to get there and just try as hard as I can and find the perfection of every single movement.
It is probably my hardest and one of the best single pitches I have climbed.

“Sprengstoff“ was an open project for more than 25 years. Jacopo did the FA a few month ago.
I am just happy to follow up with the first repeat. Thanks to my sister Claudia Zangerl for the sending belay !

At the end I am always a bit sad when it is over. Even if it is just another piece of rock! But It can mean quite a lot to us climbers.
I really hope that the wall will be there for many more years, for the next generations of climbers.
It is definitely one of those crags which is highly in danger. It is placed right at a quarry and not to be meant to stay forever.
I hope this crag will be preserved in the future.”
