Ca y est ! Le froid polaire qu’attendent patiemment les bloqueurs pendant de longs mois (parfois vainement…) est enfin arrivé en Europe occidentale ! Ainsi à Bleau les locaux les plus déterminés sont de sortie pour profiter de la collante, notamment Camille Coudert qui a pu se défaire de “La Picharête” 8C sur le bloc de “Gaia” au rocher Brulé, signant la seconde ascension d’un bloc sur-physique ouvert l’an dernier par Nico Pelorson, proposant un départ des plus à doigts avec la fissure de départ de “No Kpote” avant de rejoindre “La proue d’Acleaude” 8A.
“J’ai mis 4 séances, le bloc est assez long, en tout 15 mouvements, il y a pas vraiment de crux, un enchaînements de 10 mouvs de suite d’intensité 7B/C chacun puis encore 5 mouvements plus faciles qui n’ajoutent pas grand chose à la difficulté du bloc mais où il est encore possible de tomber (j’y suis tombé a ma 3ème séance)”.
Plus à l’Est, à Val Bavona en Suisse, c’est le célèbre “Off the wagon low” qui est répété par le grimpeur allemand Lasse Von Freier après plusieurs sessions à essayer réparties sur 4 ans. L’accomplissement d’un rêve qui avait commencé dès le visionnage de la première ascension du départ bas par Shawn Raboutou en 2018. Son séjour dans le bloc a été épique puisque Lasse a cassé un pied dans le premier mouvement du bloc, avant de caler une autre séquence qui fonctionne mais qu’il estime plus dure que celle d’avant. Il est tombé dans le derviche no foot de sortie du debout aussi pendant la séance précédant la réussite ! Plus d’infos sur sa répétition ici.
Here it is! The polar cold that boulderers have been patiently waiting for for months (sometimes in vain…) has finally arrived in Western Europe! So in Font, the most determined locals are out to take advantage of the sticky conditions, and Camille Coudert in particular was able to complete “La Picharête” 8C on the “Gaia” boulder at Rocher Brulé, signing the second ascent of this über physical boulder opened last year by Nico Pelorson, offering a fingery start from the “No kpote” crack before reaching the left stand start of “La proue d’Acleaude” 8A.
“It took me 4 sessions, the boulder is quite long with 15 movements in all, there’s no real crux, a sequence of 10 moves in a row of 7B/C intensity each then another 5 easier movements which don’t add much to the difficulty of the boulder but where it’s still possible to fall (I fell there on my 3rd session)”.
Further East, at Val Bavona in Switzerland, it’s the famous “Off the wagon low” that is being repeated by German climber Lasse Von Freier, after several sessions spread over 4 years. The accomplishment of a dream that started with Shawn Raboutou’s first ascent video of the low start in 2018. His time on the boulder was epic as Lasse broke a foothold on the first move of the boulder, before finding another sequence that works, but he reckons is a tad harder than the one before.
