Description générale

Nous vous recommandons le Valley Mountain Bar (the place to be).

Zone archéologique exceptionnelle, espace sensible (peintures rupestres).

General description
When the heatwave is getting to everyone’s heads, and wildfires are raging in the north and south, east and west, Cerdagne stands out as a fabulous summer retreat. The rich, recently developed climbing area of Bellver sits at an altitude of around 1,200 metres, just 15 minutes from the French border on Spanish soil (Catalonia), and offers several north-east-facing sectors. Right in the heart of the Cadi-Moxeiro National Park, it offers a quality of limestone climbing that is rare in this north-eastern part of the Pyrenees, and provides an alternative to the other well-known and busy Catalan climbing spots.
Its layout, comprising suspended alpine terraces, means it enjoys very favourable conditions: wind and shade in the late afternoon during the summer (roughly from 4 pm); sunshine and warm, sticky conditions during the day in autumn and winter.
Route style
Suitable for all levels. It is not uncommon to find routes in the 8th grade alongside much more accessible routes graded 5 and 6. A lovely 6b, for instance, offers a magnificent view of the local 8c+. At the time of publishing, there are roughly 14 routes graded 8, around 40 graded 7, about 20 graded 6, and a small handful graded 5.

This mix gives the place a relaxed atmosphere, yet one that is always imbued with passionate enthusiasm, underpinned by a clientele that is predominantly regional, if not local. Make no mistake: the easy routes are just as beautiful as the ‘king lines’ in the 8, both in terms of the moves involved and the quality of the rock.
The bolting is secure and closely spaced, in keeping with Catalan crag standards. The proximity to the Targasonne bouldering site has inspired route-setters to create a few short routes; however, the Val d’Ingla’s identity lies in its continuous routes, which tend to be overhanging with good holds for hands and feet.

Access
From Puigcerdà towards La Seu d’Urgell, in Bellver de Cerdanya head towards Tallo, then on leaving the village head north towards Val d’Ingla and the Ingla hut. Take a distinctive track on the left with a sign indicating the locations and follow it for 3 km to the foot of the cliff.
Accommodation and food
Essential: a small spring 50 metres before the Bellver path, ideal for filling water bottles on the way up and quenching your thirst on the way down.
Shops, local produce, restaurants and tapas bars in the village of Bellver. We recommend the Valley Mountain Bar (the place to be). Beers, tapas and a restaurant all in one place.
Free, spacious campervan parking spot in Talló.
Recommendations
Protected national park, pastoral area. Observe access restrictions, particularly due to the risk of fire. No smoking. Park correctly in the designated spaces along the edge of the track. Do not camp along the track.
Close the metal gate on the access path to the upper sectors; this prevents herds from falling off the cliffs.
Sensitive nesting area. Do not shout on the routes; keep quiet.
Exceptional archaeological site, sensitive area (rock paintings).
There is a village further up the valley. People live in the area. They have priority on the track.
By the way: here we speak Catalan, not French or Castilian. This is an important detail to bear in mind, which will be of great help when chatting to people, whether at the crag or in the bar.
Nearby
In case of rain: La Fusteria climbing centre, Av. dels Pirineus, 81, 17520 Puigcerdà.
Crags in the vicinity: Las Esposas in Riu de Cerdanya. Grau de l’Os. Urús. Llo (single pitch and 2 multi-pitch routes, 5 sup and 7a). Rocher du Mouli. Cambre d’Aze for alpine multi-pitch. Bouldering in Targasonne.
Things to do: Visit the Serrat de las Esposas and Ingla mountain huts. Numerous Romanesque buildings.
The area is also renowned as a paradise for enduro and cross-country mountain biking.
