Cap sur El Cap : levons l’ancre pour une escalade plus respectueuse !

6 grimpeurs passionnés rejoints par deux amoureux de la mer, avides de grandes parois et d’aventures, se réunissent pendant presque 10 mois autour d’une quête unique!

L’objectif : traverser océan et continent pour grimper la paroi de leur rêve en réduisant au maximum leur impact environnemental !

“Ce projet est une expédition sportive, un voyage de voile-escalade, à partir de laquelle nous allons réaliser un long-métrage. Nous sommes 8 amis, grimpeurs de haut-niveau, aventuriers passionnés et photographes, et nous avons l’ambition cet automne de traverser l’Atlantique en voilier (au départ de la méditerranée) vers les USA pour y grimper les plus belles voies, les plus belles parois. L’objectif principal étant le fameux El Capitan dans le parc du Yosemite en Californie. L’objectif de ce voyage est de montrer qu’il est possible d’effectuer une expédition sportive d’une telle ampleur avec de faibles impact sur l’environnement avec alternatives au transport aérien.“

Niveau escalade voici les ambitions nourries par le groupe composé entre autres de la photographe Julia Cassou et du grimpeur belge Seb Berthe :

• La découverte de l’escalade sur coinceurs, dite escalade traditionnelle, en grande paroi. Et avec elle toutes les aventures que cela implique: les premières chutes sur coinceurs, dormir, manger et faire ses besoins en paroi, hisser des sacs particulièrement lourds,… Peurs, joies et émotions fortes seront au rendez-vous! 
• L’escalade en libre d’El Capitan, performance de haut-niveau à laquelle seule une très petite minorité des grimpeurs de cette planète puisse aspirer.
• El Capitan à la journée… 1000m de grimpe en une seule journée? Efficacité, vitesse, engagement sont les ingrédients nécessaires à la réussite d’un tel objectif!
• Répétition en libre du Dawnwall, la grande voie la plus exigeante, difficile et effrayante du monde. Une répétition de cette voie représenterait sans nul doute l’une des plus belles performances en grande-paroi de ces 10 dernières années.

“Cap sur El Cap”: let’s go for a more responsible climbing!
6 passionate Euro climbers joined by two lovers of the sea, big walls and adventure addicts, come together for almost 10 months around a unique idea!

“This project is a sport expedition, a sailing-climbing trip, from which we will make a movie. We are 8 friends, top climbers, passionate adventurers and photographers, and we have the ambition this Fall to sail across the Atlantic ocean (from the Mediterranean) to the USA in order to climb the most beautiful routes, the most beautiful walls. The main objective being the famous El Capitan in the Yosemite Park. The objective of this trip is to show that it is possible to carry out a sport expedition of such magnitude with low environmental impact using alternatives to air transport.”

For the climbing side, here are the goals fixed by the group composed among others of photographer Julia Cassou and top Belgian climber Seb Berthe:

• The discovery of climbing on stoppers, known as traditional climbing, on big walls. And with it all the adventures that follow: the first falls on cams, sleep, eat and do your needs on the wall, haul particularly heavy bags… Fears, joy and strong emotions will be waiting for us!
• Free climb El Capitan, a high-level performance that only a very small minority of climbers on this planet can aspire to.
• El Capitan in a day… 1000m of climbing in one day? Efficiency, speed, commitment are the necessary ingredients for the success of such a goal!
• Free ascent of the Dawn wall, the most demanding, difficult and scary multi-pitch route in the world. A repeat of this route would undoubtedly represent one of the best big wall performances of the last 10 years.
