Cet automne, comme sa dernière compagne de cordée Solène Amoros, la machine Suisse Kathy Choong surfe avec brio entre ses projets en grande-voie comme “Ali Baba” et les couennes, avec la réussite d’une nouvelle voire dure, cette fois dans le Vercors : la première féminine du 8c+ de “E-Space Challenge”, 8c+ équipé par Nicolas Glée au Précipice de Corbière, une voie déversante à la difficulté crescendo, jusqu’à un dynamique final compliqué !
“Il s’agit d’un combat de résistance dans un mur très déversant qui débute avec une première longueur en 8a et monte crescendo jusqu’au crux juste sous le relais, un jeté suivi de quelques mouvements difficiles très physiques. Après être tombée 3x au jeté final, il m’aura fallu 6 jours pour parvenir au sommet sans tomber! Grimpé sans genouillère !”
Kathy est déjà à l’assaut de son prochain super-projet, la grande-voie “Fly” dans le Lauterbrunnen. Le repérage de la voie a été réalisé le week-end dernier en compagnie de Cédric Lachat qui lui a partagé ses méthodes… A suivre après la saison hivernale !

This fall, like her latest teamate Solène Amoros, Swiss machine Kathy Choong is jumping from multi-pitch projects like “Ali Baba” to extreme sport climbing business with the send of “E-Space Challenge” 8c+ FFA, a king line located at Précipice de Corbière, Vercors, France. This 35m overhanging line bolted by Nicolas Glée offers a stamina challenge, with the intensity going crescendo and a tricky final dyno.
“It’s a fight of resistance on a very overhanging wall which is beginning with a first 8a+ pitch, and is going crescendo to the crux just under the anchor, a dyno followed by some very physical challenging moves. After falling 3 times on the final dyno, it took me 6 days to get to the top without falling! Climbed without knee pads!”
Kathy is now already working her new super-project, the multi-pitch “Fly” in Lauterbrunnen. She checked the route last week-end, joined by Cédric Lachat who shared his methods. To be continued after the coming winter season…
