Le monde des falaises connait Aiglun pour la paroi dérobée, où niche la célèbre et surplombante « Ali Baba », entre autres. La moins connue paroi du Giet vient de connaître un renouveau, grâce à François Chollet et Enzo Oddo. François nous donne des précisions sur l’ouverture d’une nouvelle grande-voie dure et soutenue, nommée « Liberté ».
« Décembre 2024 nous avons ouvert une nouvelle grande voie en plein centre de la falaise, là où les voies environnantes comptent entre 8 et 10 longueurs. Notre voie ne fait que cinq longueurs…Autant dire que les longueurs varient entre 55 et 60 m. Les cotations estimées sont : 8b, 8a, 8a+, 8a et 7a+ (7a obligatoire entre les points). On a mis 4 jours d’équipement et une journée de repérage ensuite pour caler. Comme à son habitude, Enzo a tout enchaîné ensuite dès le premier essai, alors que je ne sais pas si j’arriverai à la grimper dans cette vie… Un pur gaz et quand Enzo envoyait des grandes baffes en jetant sur des niaquettes quasiment à vue à 200 mètres du sol, je me disais qu’il n’était vraiment pas qu’un grimpeur de 9a en couenne ! Juste une belle chorégraphie sur un rocher exceptionnel !
Les habitués de Taghia ou des Dolomites y trouveront leur bonheur dans l’équipement qui est plus que béton car nous avons tout équipé en scellement mais l’engagement reste sérieux.
Le rocher est d’une qualité exceptionnelle sur l’ensemble de la voie qui dépasse les 250 m de haut !

Rockclimbing aficionados knows Aiglun as the home of the famous and overhanging “Ali Baba”, among others. The lesser-known Giet wall has just been revived by François Chollet and Enzo Oddo. François gives us details of the opening of a new hard and sustained long route, named “Liberté”.
« In December 2024, we opened a new big route in the middle of the cliff, where the surrounding routes are between 8 and 10 pitches long. Our route is only five pitches long…so the lengths vary between 55 and 60 meters. Estimated grades are: 8b, 8a, 8a+, 8a and 7a+ (7a obl. between bolts). It took us 4 days to set up the bolting and then a day of scouting to find the right betas As usual, Enzo did it all on the very first attempt, even though I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to climb it in this lifetime… It was pure gas, and when Enzo was sending big slaps on small crimps basically onsight 200 meters from the ground, I told myself that he really wasn’t just a 9a sportclimber! Just a beautiful choreography on an exceptional rock!
Those familiar with Taghia or the Dolomites will be delighted with the bolting, which is more than just safe, as we’ve bolted everything with glue, but the run-outs remain serious. The rock is of exceptional quality throughout the route, which is over 250 m high! Thanks to the FFME for the bolts! »
