Après “La cabane au Canada” au Rawyl en 2021, l’allemande Solveig Korherr vient de répéter sa seconde voie en 9ème degré il y a une semaine avec le très puissant “Jungfraumarathon” à Gimmelwald en Suisse. C’est la seconde féminine de la voie après Kathy Choong en 2019. Solveig fait partie du cercle très fermé des grimpeuses allemandes ayant réalisé du 9a, avec Martina Demmel et Chiara Hanke.
“J’ai essayé “Jungfraumarathon” pour la première fois l’année dernière pendant quelques jours. J’ai tout de suite été très motivée et je me suis sentie plutôt bien dedans, mais j’ai arrêté d’essayer quand je me suis blessée à un doigt.
Cette année, j’avais envie d’y revenir. J’étais assez nerveuse avant de réessayer parce que je ne me suis pas concentrée sur l’escalade sportive au cours des six derniers mois comme je le fais habituellement. Je faisais du bloc pendant l’hiver, j’ai fait de l’escalade traditionnelle à l’inter-saison et principalement des voies d’escalade sportive plus courtes dans le Jura bâlois. Je ne savais pas trop à quoi m’attendre et je ne pouvais pas dire si j’étais en forme…
La première fois que je suis retournée dans la voie, j’ai été étonnamment choquée de voir à quel point tous les mouvements intrinsèques étaient simples. Je pense que ma saison de bloc s’est très bien déroulée. Je me sentais beaucoup mieux que l’an dernier.
À partir de ce moment, je me suis totalement investie dans la voie. En deux semaines et demie, j’ai optimisé mes méthodes initiales, beaucoup mieux appréhendé les mouvements et gagné en endurance. J’ai alterné jour de grimpe et de repos car le style Gimmelwald est super puissant et exigeant.
Chaque jour, je me sentais de mieux en mieux et je tombais de plus en plus haut.
Le jour où je l’ai enchainé, tout était parfait et je n’aurais pas pu souhaiter une meilleure façon de terminer cette voie !”

After “La Cabane au Canada” at Rawyl in 2021, German Solveig Korherr just repeated her second route in the 9th degree a week ago with the very powerful “Jungfraumarathon” at Gimmelwald in Switzerland. It’s the second female ascent on the route after Kathy Choong in 2019. Solveig is part of the very private club of German girls having sent 9a, with Chiara Hanke and Martina Demmel.
“I first tried „Jungfraumarathon” (9a) last year for a few days. I was immediately really psyched and felt quite good on it, but I stopped trying it when I injured one of my fingers.
This year, I wanted to eventually come back to it. I was quite nervous before trying it again because I didn’t focus on sport climbing the last half year as I usually do. I was bouldering during the winter, did some trad climbing in between, and mainly some shorter sport climbing routes in the Basler Jura. I wasn’t sure what to expect, and I couldn’t tell if I was in shape.
The first time I got on the route this trip, I was surprisingly shocked at how good all the singles moves felt. I guess the bouldering season worked out very well. I felt much better than last year.
From this point on, I was totally committed to the route. Over two and a half weeks, I optimized my beta, learned the moves a lot better, and gained more endurance. I climbed one-day-on, one-day-off since the Gimmelwald style is super powerful and demanding.
Every day I felt better on it, and I was falling higher and higher.
On the day I sent it, everything felt perfect and I couldn’t have wished for a better way to finish off this route!”
