Le falaisiste Toulousain Pierre Trolliet vient de cocher son projet à long terme, “Cosi se arete” 9a à la Piscineta, Rodellar. Cette voie assez peu réputée est pourtant exceptionnelle : elle connecte le bas de la célèbre king line “Cosi fan tutte” (8c+) avant de rejoindre le crux principal et le haut de “De battre mon coeur s’est arrêté” (9a). La ligne, impressionnante, fait 50 m de long et raye le secteur à l’endroit le plus déversant de la falaise. Un projet que Pierre avait déjà entamé l’été dernier, et comme le dit Pierre, “la plus belle manière de traverser une rivière !”. C’est son second 9a après “Descente en terre inconnue” à Sabart en 2021. Voici son commentaire :
“Alors j’ai pas bien compté mais en gros j’ai dû y passer une quinzaine de jours l’année dernière, et 5 jours cette année. Cette année j’ai commencé par passer 3 jours à tout recaler, le crux de “Cosi”, le crux du haut de “De battre” et la rési de la fin. Après une journée de repos j’ai commencé à mettre des runs du sol pour voir dans quel état j’arrivais au crux du haut avec 40 mètres de dévers dans les bras. J’étais assez loin du compte, et de toute façon c’était trop mouillé pour enchainer. Le lendemain, les colos sèchent en cours de journée, et à la deuxième montée je parviens à monter très haut, jusqu’au mouvement dur de ma méthode, un bidoigt a viser en épaule. De bon augure donc… J’essaye de recaler le pas, mais je n’arrive même pas à refaire le mouvement intrinsèquement ! Du coup 3ème montée de la journée, je pars – à priori fatigué – pour un classique combo besogne/douleur. Mais les condis sont tellement exceptionnelles que tout s’empile parfaitement, et je me retrouve au dernier repos, plus frais que jamais. Je donne tout dans le crux, et là, miracle, j’attrape le bidoigt parfaitement. A partir de là ça a été un très gros combat mental pour ne pas craquer. Au global c’était un peu inespéré parce que je n’avais pas vraiment réalisé que tous les derniers petits ajustements, cumulés au vent du nord, allaient faire la différence. Une belle expérience mentale ! J’en profite pour remercier ma chérie qui m’a beaucoup soutenu et sans qui je n’aurais jamais pu aller au bout. Maintenant c’est elle qui a la pression pour son projet !”

Toulouse-based rockclimber Pierre Trolliet just ticked his long-time project, “Cosi se arete” 9a at La Piscineta, Rodellar. This relatively little-known route is nevertheless exceptional: it links the beginning of the famous king line “Cosi fan tutte” (8c+) before joining the main crux and the top of “De battre mon coeur s’est arrêté” (9a). The impressive line is 50 meters long and takes the cliff’s most overhanging point. A project that Pierre already started last summer, and as he says, “the most beautiful way to cross a river!” This is his second 9a after “Descente en terre inconnue” in Sabart in 2021. Here’s his comment:
“So I didn’t count right, but basically I must have spent 15 days there last year, and 5 days this year. This year I started by spending 3 days re-checking my betas, the crux of “Cosi”, the top crux of “De battre” and the resistant part at the end. After a day’s rest, I started putting goes from the ground in order to check how I will arrive at the top crux with 40 meters of overhang in my arms. I wasn’t even close, and anyway it was too wet. The next day, tufas dried out during the day, and on my second go I managed to climb very high, right up to the hard move with my plan, a gaston twofinger pocket to stick. Promising… I fiw my beta, but I can’t even do the move anymore! So, at my 3rd go of the day, I went – apparently tired – for a classic “painful and for the work” go. But the condis were so exceptional that everythingwent perfectly, and I find myself at the last rest, fresher than ever. I give it my all in the crux, and miraculously catch the twofingerpocket perfectly. From then, it was a huge mental battle not to fail. Overall, it was a bit unexpected because I hadn’t really realized that all the last little adjustments, combined with the north wind, were going to make all the difference. A great mental experience! I’d like to take this opportunity to thank my sweetheart, who has been so supportive and without whom I’d never have made it to the end. Now she’s the one who’s under pressure for her project!”
