Après son trip en Afrique du Sud cet été, Dave Graham vient de réaliser une bête noire au pays avec “Hypnotized Mind” 8C+. Véritable pionnier du bloc avec des centaines de blocs dans le 8ème degré à son actif (on lui doit “The story of 2 worlds”, “From dirt grows the flowers”, “The island”,…) Dave coche ici son bloc le plus dur sur le papier à presque 38 ans ! Une sacrée croix ! Cela faisait pas moins de 8 ans que Dave essayait régulièrement ce problème sur le Veritas boulder de Estes Park dans le Colorado. Daniel Woods, qui a réalisé la première ascension du passage en 2010 et proposé initialement proposé 8C s’est ensuite ravisé et suggéré 8C+. Le russe Rustam Gelmanov l’avait répété lui facilement en 3 séances il y a 3 ans, déclarant que c’était bien dans son style. C’est donc la 3ème ascension du bloc !

Le plus français des top bloqueurs américains, Shawn Raboutou vient lui de cocher à Rocklands la proue majeure de “Linvin’ Large”. Ce bloc technique haut et engagé avait été ouvert par Nalle Hukkataival à 8C et répété uniquement par Jimmy Webb. C’est la 3ème ascension de ce superbe passage. Raboutou qui commence à avoir une belle liste de visite dans le haut-niveau (Creature from the black lagoon”, “Off the wagon sit”, “Finnish line”…) propose une réévaluation du bloc à 8C+.
After his summer trip in SA, Dave Graham was back home few days ago and just ticked his old nemesis and his hardest boulder. A highlight for him, close to 38 after hundred of 8th grade boulders around the World and major first ascents everywhere like “The Island”, “From dirt grows the flowers” or “The story of 2 worlds”… Dave was attempting the line since 8 years on Veritas boulder, Estes Park, Colorado. Daniel Woods did the first ascent of the problem in 2020 and said 8C but later changed his proposition and gave 8C+. The second ascent was taken by Russian machine Rustam Gelmanov in 2016 in only 3 sessions. It’s the 3rd ascent of this one!
The most Frenchie of American top boulderers Shawn Raboutou just took the 3rd ascent of majestic prow “Livin’ large” in Rocklands. This tall and commited and technical arete was opened by Nalle Hukkataival and first repeated by Jimmy Webb. Raboutou who has now a long extreme tocklist under his belt (“Creature from the black lagoon”, “Off the wagon sit”, “The finnish line”,…) proposes to upgrade this ont to 8C+.
