*** Double répétition de “Floatin” !
Première info en provenance du Japon avec les seconde et troisième ascensions coup sur coup du merveilleux bloc ouvert par Ryuichi Murai en 2021 au Mont Mizugaki, “Floatin” 8C+. Ce panneau à 35° offrant 5 mouvements archidurs sur arquées a été répété par le grimpeur allemand Florian Wientjes après seulement 5 sessions, mais 3 mois d’entrainement spécifiques avant de partir en voyage en Asie pour essayer le bloc ! Pour le premier mouvement dur du problème, plutôt que faire un mouvement de pan Güllich no foot comme Ryuichi, Florian a opté pour une nouvelle méthode “pogo” avec un jeté de jambe canne à pêche. Le bloc est pas mal à la mode puisque le nippon Ryohei Kameyama vient aussi d’annoncer une ascension du bloc et une vidéo (ci-dessous).
*** “Celestite” en vidéo :
La chaîne Mellow vient de partager une vidéo de la première ascension de “Celestite” par Dave Graham, un 8C+ adjacent au superbe “La Rustica” (8C) de Val Bavona. “Celestite” est un bloc tout en coincement de genoux, et mouvements de main improbables nécessitant une grosse dose de technique, gainage, tenue de prises et résistance. Dave a ouvert ce bloc ce printemps et pense que c’est un 8A+ dans un 8B+. Une sortie plus dure avec une proue en 8B highball existe, et le pionnier du bloc américain compte s’y frotter cet hiver… Attention lors du visionnage de la vidéo, vos neurones pourraient entrer en surchauffe si vous tentez de comprendre le détail des méthodes de Dave.
*** Un highball hardcore répété par Sinnhüber !
La grimpeuse autrichienne Karo Sinnhüber vient de répéter une ligne impressionnante à Sunderground (Zillertal) dans le Tyrol avec “Black Beat”, un highball en 7B+ proposant une arête technique de 15 mètres de haut dont la première avait été réalisée par Much Mayr en 2008 ! “Celui-ci était dans un coin de ma tête depuis un moment mais personne ne voulait l’essayer avec moi” commente-t-elle. On comprend vite pourquoi dans la photo ci-dessous !

This 35° board offering 5 hard moves on crimps was repeated by German climber Florian Wientjes after only 5 sessions, but 3 months of specific training before leaving on the trip to Asia to try the boulder! For the first hard move of the problem, instead of doing a campus move like Ryuichi, Florian opted for a new ‘pogo’ method. The boulder is basking in the spotlight, as Japanese Ryohei Kameyama just announced a repeat of his own and a video to come soon.

The Mellow channel just shared a video of Dave Graham’s first ascent of “Celestite”, an 8C+ adjacent to Val Bavona’s superb “La Rustica” (8C). “Celestite” is a boulder full of kneebars and improbable hand moves requiring a big level of technique, body tension, crimping and resistance. Dave opened this boulder this spring and thinks it’s an 8A+ into an 8B+. A hard exit with an 8B highball prow is possible, and the American pioneer of bouldering is planning on trying it this winter…
*** Sinnhüber repeats an insane highball!
Austrian climber Karo Sinnhüber just repeated an impressive line at Sunderground (Zillertal) in the Tyrol with “Black Beat”, a 7B+ highball featuring a technical 15-metre-high arete. The first ascent of this mega line was completed by Much Mayr in 2008! “This one has been on my mind for such a long time, but nobody wanted to try it with me,” she comments. It’s easy to understand why in the photo above!
