Seconde ascension de Mamichula 9b pour Seb Bouin – Second ascent of Mamichula 9b by Seb Bouin

  • 16/04/2019

He was trying it since his repeat of “Pachamama” at the beginning of March, he have finally climbed the route yesterday! Seb Bouin just did “Mamichula” 9b in Oliana after a minor shoulder injury and a break in France. This link between 2 King Lines of the crag was freed by Adam Ondra in February 2017 (video uncut at the end of the news). “Mamichula” starts in “Papi chulo” before an hard crux around 8A boulder into the final resistant part of “Pachamama”. It’s one of the most difficult challenges of the crag with “La dura dura”, “Fight or flight” or “Chaxi raxi”. It’s the 3rd route around 9b for Seb (and his real first) who has also climbed “Chilam balam” and “les yeux plus gros que l’antre” with an 9a+ estimated grade. He are his first words:

“On the paper, yes it’s my first 9b. In reality I think my 2 last first ascents in France (note: “Les yeux plu gros que l’antre” and “la côte d’usure”) are as hard or may be a little bit harder. I would like some climbers will come and try for giving another opinion.

About the process, I first worked and did “Pachamama” which permits me to master the end. Then I worked “mamichula”. The effort suits me well so it went quickly for a route of this level. I put some kneebars compared to Adam, making some moves of the route more simple, from an hard 9b to a normal 9b?”
