Pour fêter la barre des 100 000 abonnés sur sa chaine Youtube, l’italien Stefano Ghisolfi vient de publier coup sur coup deux vidéos. La première le montre réussissant à enchaîner dans sa courte mais néanmoins torride longueur le fameux crux de “Silence”, the 9c, à Flatanger. Une fissure dans un dévers avoisinant le toit, avec une mise en place retorse après un repos médiocre que Ghisolfi n’a pas encore réussi à optimiser, et qui aura nécessité à Ondra des entrainements spécifiques en 2016 et 2017.
Cette réussite date de l’automne dernier, mais un nouveau corps à corps aura bientôt lieu, surtout si Stefano échoue à se qualifier pour les JO (chemin mal/heureusement bien entamé après sa contre-performance au OQS de Shanghai).
La seconde vidéo de l’italien consiste en sa montée victorieuse et uncut dans “Excalibur”, son 9b+ à la maison (Arco). Dommage que l’angle n’ait pas été mieux pensé, ne permettant pas vraiment d’apprécier la difficulté inouie de la voie, mais enfin les fans de uncut apprécieront.
Pour finir ce bref tour d’horizon de spectateur compulsif, notons le mini-documentaire de Mellow sur Zach Galla réussissant “The Process”, un 8C+ en highball sur le célèbre bloc des Buttermilks. Daniel Woods en avait signé la première en 2015, et l’ascension de Galla n’en constitue que la première répétition. Quand on mesure la difficulté intrinsèque de la ligne tout autant que la hauteur du monstre, pas surprenant!

To celebrate the 100,000 subscribers mark on his YouTube channel, Italian Stefano Ghisolfi has just published two videos in quick succession. The first shows him successfully linking the famous crux of ‘Silence’, the 9c, in Flatanger, in its short yet torrid length. A crack in an overhang close to a roof, with a tricky set-up after a mediocre rest that Ghisolfi has not yet managed to optimise, and which required specific training for Ondra in 2016 and 2017.
This success dates back to last autumn, but there will soon be another tussle, especially if Stefano fails to qualify for the Olympics (a path un/fortunately well started after his under-performance at the Shanghai OQS).
The Italian’s second video consists of his victorious uncut ascent of ‘Excalibur’, his 9b+ at home (Arco). It’s a shame the angle wasn’t better thought out, but uncut fans will appreciate.
To round off this brief overview of compulsive viewing, let’s note Mellow’s mini-documentary on Zach Galla achieving ‘The Process’, an 8C+ highball on the famous Buttermilks’ boulder. Daniel Woods first ascented the route in 2015, and Galla’s ascent is just the first repeat. When you consider the intrinsic difficulty of the line as much as the height of the monster, hardly surprising!
