Will Bosi endort “Sleepwalker” 8C+ et le décote – Will Bosi ticks ‘Sleepwalker’ and downgrades it

Pour quelqu’un qui s’inquiétait de ce que “Sleepwalker“, le fameux bloc de Jimmy Webb de décembre 2018, ne lui correspondait pas, Will Bosi s’est vite rassuré : trois sessions auront en effet suffi pour la coche… Depuis sa sortie de terre la ligne a la cote (15 ascensions à ce jour), d’où peut-être la décote que Will suggère en proposant 8C au lieu du 8C+ originel. La chose n’est pas nouvelle, Zander Waller allant même jusqu’à oser le “8C soft” après son ascension en octobre dernier, ou le novice dans ces hautes sphères, Noah Wheeler, évoquant la possibilité d’un slash (8C/+). On voit ce dernier à l’œuvre dans cette vidéo:

Ces deux derniers ont utilisé une méthode rendant selon leurs dires la ligne plus facile, alors que Will est resté dans les clous. Il devrait développer sa pensée dans une publication ultérieure.

Quoi qu’il en soit, cette ascension n’est au juste qu’un hors-d’oeuvre, puisque le nerf de la guerre pour Will se passe à l’étage au-dessus, dans le 9A. Surtout depuis que Simon Lorenzi s’est adjugé la place de premier bloqueur aux trois V17… L’Écossais est donc dorénavant à la lutte avec “Return of the Sleepwalker”, 9A, établi par Daniel Woods après un mois de retraite au pied du bloc. Tout comme Noah Wheeler : à qui le tour?

Si tout se passe bien et relativement vite, Will pourrait également faire un petit détour par “Megatron”, dont il expliquait dans des entretiens de l’automne qu’il lui correspondait davantage. Avant, naturellement, de rejoindre “Excalibur” en Italie. 9A, 9A et 9b+ : on prend les paris?

For someone who was worried that ‘Sleepwalker‘, Jimmy Webb’s famous block from December 2018, did not suit him, Will Bosi was quickly reassured: three sessions sufficed… Since its emergence, the line has been pretty popular (15 ascents to date), hence perhaps the downgrade that Will suggests by proposing 8C instead of the original 8C+. The suggestion is not new, Zander Waller even going so far as to dare the ‘8C soft’ after his ascent last October, or the novice in these high spheres, Noah Wheeler, evoking the possibility of a slash (8C/+). The latter two used a method that, according to them, made the line easier, while Will remained true to the original beta. He said he would develop his thoughts in a later publication.

In any case, this ascent was always going to be but an appetiser, since the heart of the matter for Will takes place on the floor above, at 9A. Especially since Simon Lorenzi became the first man with three V17s… The Scot is now fighting it out on ‘Return of the Sleepwalker’, 9A, established by Daniel Woods after a month of retreat at the foot of the boulder. As is Noah Wheeler, so, who will bag the first repetition?

If everything goes well and relatively quickly, Will could also take a little detour to ‘Megatron’, which he explained in interviews suited him more. Before, naturally, reuniting with ‘Excalibur’ in Italy. 9A, 9A and 9b+: shall we take bets?
