L’automne s’installe en zone tempérée d’Hémisphère Nord, et les performances en bloc augmentent inversement proportionnellement à la chute des températures ! 3 nouveaux 9A bloc ont ainsi été gravis dernièrement.
Ainsi le champion autrichien Jakob Schubert en profite pour se coller à la première répétition du 9A bloc de son compatriote Nicolai Užnik, la planche de « Mount Doom » en Autriche. A noter que Janja Garnbret, qui a aussi essayé le bloc, a cassé une prise dans le bas du passage, ce qui a demandé à Jakob deux journées supplémentaires pour retravailler une nouvelle séquence par rapport à ses méthodes d’avant la casse avant de faire la croix. C’est son second 9A bloc, deux ans après sa répétition d' »Alphane ».
Première répétition aussi, avec une annonce très feutrée pour Sean Bailey avec une vidéo sans commentaire en noir et blanc montrant la deuxième ascension d' »Arrival of the birds » un bloc très à doigts ouvert par Aidan Roberts à Ticino en Suisse. C’est le 3ème 9A de Bailey, qui avait déjà coché « Shaolin » et « Alphane ».
Enfin très récemment le nippon Ryuichi Murai devient le premier Japonais à réaliser du 9A en venant à bout de « Return of the Sleepwalker » à Red Rocks, un bloc qu’il projetait depuis 2 ans et dont il avait déjà réalisé le départ debout en février 2023. Sur place depuis deux semaines, Ryuichi vient de concrétiser, avec une grimpe tout en maîtrise dans cet enchainement surpuissant. C’est la 5ème ascension du bloc après Daniel Woods, Will Bosi, Noah Wheeler et Simon Lorenzi, et une bonne revanche pour Ryuichi après deux trips sans concrétiser en Finlande pour « BOD ».

Autumn is settling in across the temperate zones of the Northern Hemisphere, and bouldering achievements are increasing in inverse proportion to the drop in temperatures! Three new 9A boulders have been climbed recently.
Austrian champion Jakob Schubert took advantage of the season to become the first to repeat his compatriot Nicolai Uznik’s 9A boulder, “Mount Doom” in Austria. It should be noted that Janja Garnbret also tried the boulder and broke a hold at the beginning of the problem, which required Jakob to spend two extra days working out a new sequence before completing the boulder. This is his second 9A boulder, two years after his repeat of “Alphane.”
It was also a first repeat, with a very low-key announcement for Sean Bailey with a black and white video without commentary showing the second ascent of “Arrival of the Birds,” a very fingery boulder problem established by Aidan Roberts in Ticino, Switzerland. This is Bailey’s third 9A, having already ticked ‘Shaolin’ and “Alphane.”
Finally, very recently, Japan’s Ryuichi Murai became the first Japanese climber to achieve 9A by completing “Return of the Sleepwalker” at Red Rocks, a boulder he had been working on for 2 years, and of which he had already completed the stand start in February 2023. It’s the 5th ascent of the boulder after Daniel Woods, Will Bosi, Noah Wheeler and Simon Lorenzi, and a good revenge for him after 2 unsucessful trips to Finland for « BOD » this year.
