Jernej Kruder ouvre Dugi Rat, 9a+ – First ascent of Dugi Rat 9a+ by Jernej Kruder

Le slovène Jernej Kruder est sur tous les terrains. Le champion du Monde de la coupe du Monde de bloc 2018 vient de sévir de nouveau et de terminer son année en beauté avec la première ascension de “Dugi Rat” 9a+ le 31 décembre, une ligne qu’il avait équipé il y a 4 ans dans la grotte de Vrulja en Croatie. C’est probablement la voie la plus dure du pays. Voici son commentaire :

“La voie est magnifiquement belle, elle a tout. Un bel emplacement, une ligne parfaite au milieu de la grotte, une parfaite augmentation de sa difficulté, avec des mouvements incroyables et un parfait réta. 30 mètres d’escalade très déversante avec plusieurs cruxs et le plus dur se trouve à la fin du toit. C’est un projet que j’essayais depuis 3 ans. Nous venons en Croatie pour la nouvelle année traditionnellement et cette voie était sur ma liste depuis que je l’avais équipée à mon premier trip. Lors de mon second trip, j’ai réussi à faire tous les mouvements. Mon 3ème trip s’annonçait prometteur mais une fenêtre d’un mois de mauvais a mis à mal mon projet, j’ai pu néanmoins faire de bonnes sections de la voie, mais ce n’était pas assez pour la finir…Je suis ensuite revenu en novembre pour 2 semaines. J’ai cassé une prise mais j’ai commencé à être tout de même assez proche. Cette fois, je n’ai pas voulu perdre de temps et à ce séjour j’ai grimpé tous les jours dedans jusqu’à ce que je l’enchaîne. J’ai réussi à la plier à mon 7ème jour de grimpe de suite ! J’ai commencé à équiper dans cet endroit de Croatie où il n’y avait pas encore trop de spots de grimpe, et il y a encore a un gros potentiel. J’ai commencé à équiper à Vrulja principalement des voies dures. Il y  a maintenant autour de 20 voies, toutes au-dessus du 7b+.”

Slovenian Jernej Kruder is everywhere. The bouldering world cup winner 2018 perfectly finished the year with the first ascent of “Dugi rat” on December 31st. The line, located in Vrulja cave in Croatia has been bolted by himself and was one of his long time project. It’s probably the hardest sport route of Croatia. Here is Jernej’s reaction :

“The route is insanely beautiful to me. It contains everything. Nice location, perfect line in the middle of the cave, perfect increasing of difficulty, with crazy moves and perfect top out. 30 meters of very steep climbing with several cruxes and hardest one by the end of the roof. Actually it was 3 years project. Traditionally we’re coming to Croatia for new year and this one was on my list since I bolted it on my first trip. On my second trip I finally managed to do all the moves. My third trip supposed to be better than expected, but one month of bad weather turned into a nightmare. Got some very good connections, but not enough to finish it off…I returned in November for 2 weeks, broke a hold and still came pretty close. This time didn’t want to waste any time and climbed on every day since I got here. Luckily I managed to pull it out on my 7th day of climbing. I started bolting in this part of Croatia, where there was not so many area, but there is a huge potential for more. So I started bolting in Vrulja and honestly didn’t want to spend bolts on easier routes. Now so far, there are about 20 routes and more or less, they are all harder than 7b+.
