*** Hugo Parmentier s’offre son premier 9b avec la première répétition d’ “Eagle-4” à St-Léger !
Depuis le mois de septembre le grimpeur parisien essayait en fil rouge cette ligne libérée par Adam Ondra en février 2018 (vidéo de la première ascension ci-dessous) au secteur Praniania de St-Léger du Ventoux. Tout se joue dans une section d’une vingtaine de mouvements très déversante dans le socle de départ avant un final plus facile en 8a/b. Hugo démarre fort 2020 avec son premier 9b ce dimanche, après avoir marqué l’année 2019 avec son premier 9a+ “La moustache qui fâche”. Il devient le 4ème français à gravir un 9b après Fred Rouhling, Seb Bouin et Loic Zéhani. Plus d’infos à venir…
*** Premier 9a pour Tanguy Merard, 16 ans :
Samedi, le jeune grimpeur gardois Tanguy Merard, 16 ans, a réalisé la première ascension d’une voie à Seynes, l’extension de “Ça chauffe” 9a sur la droite du secteur Nouveau Monde. Après une L1 assez agréable en 6b+ vient une section très bloc suivie d’un 8b de conti. Un vieux projet qui n’avait pas encore été vaincu ! Voici son commentaire sur les réseaux sociaux :
“Cette voie m’a demandé beaucoup plus d’investissement (une dizaine de séances) et d’analyse que les 2 8c+ que j’ai pu faire (ndlr : “San Ku Kai” et “Les grandes bouches du Rhône”) c’est pourquoi je propose 9a. Hier j’ai passé le pas de bloc en donnant tout ce que j’avais puis après le repos il me restait un 8b que j’ai réussi à enchaîner sans craquer mentalement !
J’espère qu’il y aura des répétiteurs bientôt !”

***First 9b by Hugo Parmentier with the first repeat of “Eagle-4” in St-Léger du Ventoux, France!
He was trying the line regularly since September, Hugo sent it yesterday!
“Eagle-4” is a route located in Praniania sector of St-Léger du Ventoux and first ascended by Adam Ondra in February 2018 (cf video above). All the difficulties are in the first overhang wall with 20 sustained moves before an easier final around 8a/b. Hugo is starting 2020 very well with his first 9b after having climbed his first 9a+, “La moustache qui fâche” last year. Hugo becomes the 4th French climber in the 9b range after Fred Rouhling, Seb Bouin and Loic Zehani. More to come…
*** First 9a by Tanguy Merard aged 16 with the first ascent of “Ca chauffe” in Seynes
On saturday the young local French gun Tanguy Merard, 16 climbed his first 9a with the first ascent of the whole route “Ca chauffe” located on the right part of Nouveau Monde sector, Seynes, France. After a nice and easy first part 6b+ comes a big crux followed by an 8b endurance part. An old project of the crag went down! Here his comment:
“This route required to me a lot of patience and perseverance ( something like 10 days), it was an harder process compared to my 2 previous 8c+ sends (“Les grandes bouches du Rhône” and “San Ku Kai”) so I propose 9a. Yesterday I went through the big crux then I fighted in the upper 8b part without mental failure. I hope some climbers will try to repeat it soon!”
