Qu’on soit pour ou contre, qu’on soit enthousiaste ou pas, l’escalade aux Jeux Olympiques à Paris, vous en avez forcément entendu parler.
On peut trouver sans doute à redire sur cette grosse machine que sont devenus les Jeux Olympiques au fil des olympiades, le jeu des gros sponsors qui y voient là l’occasion de redorer leur blason à coups de pubs sensationnels, mais on s’égare, ce n’est pas le propos.
Aujourd’hui débutent les premières épreuves du combiné où les 20 meilleures grimpeuses et les 20 meilleurs grimpeurs vont s’affronter sur le fronton du Bourget, en bloc et en difficulté.
Bien sûr ce sont des athlètes qui vont s’affronter sur un mur en résine, donc vous me direz, mais pourquoi donc en parler car Fanatic, ce sont des news sur l’escalade en outdoor ?!
Les olympiens ont certes passé ô combien d’heures en salle pour parfaire leur entraînement, mais certain.e.s ont aussi un joli palmarès de croix dehors, preuve s’il en est que grimper dehors et perfer en compétition ne sont pas incompatibles.

Whether you’re for or against it, whether you’re enthusiastic or not, you’re bound to have heard of climbing at the Olympic Games in Paris.
There’s no doubt that we can find fault with the huge machine that the Olympic Games have become over the years, and the game played by the big sponsors who see it as an opportunity to restore their image with sensational advertising, but we’re getting lost, that’s not the point.
Today sees the start of the first Combined events, in which the top 20 male and 20 female climbers will compete against each other on the Le Bourget wall, in bouldering and lead.
Of course, these are athletes who will be competing on plastic, so you might say, but why talk about it when Fanatic is all about outdoor climbing news?
The competitors have certainly spent many hours in the gym perfecting their training, but some of them also have a fine ticklist of feat outdoors, giviing the proof if it were needed that climbing outdoors and performing in competition are not incompatible.
