Adam Ondra s’illustre dans les Balkans – Adam Ondra strikes in the Balkans

Après les Mondiaux Adam Ondra est vite allé se ressourcer en falaise, visitant la falaise de Kanjon Tjesno en Bosnie, un mur impressionnant proche de Banja Luka pour le Chill and Drill Festival. Le tchèque a d’abord réalisé la première ascension de « Interklemezzo » 9a, une voie équipée par l’autrichien Peter Schwamberger. Après une première partie en 8b+, la voie propose un gros pas de bloc et une fin plus technique. Jusqu’alors, la voie la plus dure libérée en Bosnie était cotée 8a+ ! Puis Adam a pris les choses en main, équipant une ligne de 50 mètres sur la gauche du mur. Après 2 jours d’équipement et deux jours d’essais, Adam vient de réaliser la première ascension de “Highline”, selon ses dires 9a+ dur ou 9a+/b. “Une de mes plus belles premières ascensions. La partie basse est très déversante, proposant des grands mouvements sur trous, le crux est situé dans le milieu avant un final vertical, avec des difficultés techniques qui se poursuivent jusqu’au relais situé dans une dalle.”

Comme si cela ne suffisait pas, direction la Croatie en fin de semaine, où à Paklenica Adam réalise la première répétition de la grande-voie « Spomin » 8c, 350 mètres…à vue ! La voie avait été libérée par Luka Krajnc l’an dernier. Pour finir en beauté, hier c’est “Dioklecijan” 8c+/9a qui est libéré à Markezina Greda devant un public en feu, qui aura rappelé à Adam les ambiances de compétition. C’est la seconde fois de l’année qu’Adam rend une visite aux Balkans après la Roumanie ce printemps.

After World championships, Adam is back on rocks, visting the crag of Kanjon Tjesno in Bosnia (close to Banja Luka) for the Drill and Chill festival. First the amazing Czech climber did the first ascent of « Interklemezzo » 9a, a route bolted by Austrian Peter Schwamberger. “First pitch is 8b+, then hard boulderproblem into technical finish. The hardest grade in Bosnia jumped from 8a+ to 9a. “. Then Adam bolted a line on the left side of the wall. After 2 days of bolting and 2 days of work, he did the first ascent of « Highline » hard 9a+ or 9a+/b. “One of my best first ascents ever. Lower part is slightly overhanging featuring big moves on pockets, the crux is in the middle where wall turns into vertical (pictured), and then neverending technical difficulties all the way to the anchor in vertical or slightly slabby wall.”

It was not enough. Next step in Paklenica, Croatia, where Adam did the first repeat of 350 metrs multi-pitch “Spomin ” 8c…onsight!The route has been freed in 2017 by Luka Krajnc. « Pitches are following: two 6c’s or two 6a’s, L3 8a+, L4 8c, L5 8b+, L6 8a+, L7 7a, L8 7b+, L9 4 The route is massive, steep and absolutely enjoyable to climb. Very happy to have done this beast onsight.” Cherry on the cake, yesterday Adam did the first ascent of Dioklecijan 8c+/9a in Markezina Greda with a large crowd as support “Feel I was climbing on a comp (actually sad I was missing WC in Kranj) and the happiness of the local climbers exceeded everything I have ever seen .”

It’s Adam’s second visit in the Balkans this year after Romania this spring.
